teeth thread

I've never had my wisdom teeth removed, they all grew in fine and unobstructed. I appreciate having more teeth to gnash with, especially after having a molar removed, but holy shit can they be annoying. I can't tell you how many times I've bitten the inside of my cheek with these things, it always pisses me off.

Feel it's worth mentioning in this thread since some of you have admitted to being low income and suffering with a need for dental work: for anybody who grew up poor or ended up that way, you can often seek out local dental schools that offer free or reduced price for people who are down and out.

Just find out who your local dental school is and call them, and they may be able to get you the help you need if you are willing to be a guinea pig for their dental students. Don't suffer needlessly, bros.

Well, don’t mind if we do!

Here are some of the ones that survived extraction.

I actually knew about that, the issue was getting there and having the money to even pay for the discounted school care. My parents didn't give a fuck, and since I was a minor I couldn't do anything about it till I moved out.

I had mine removed at 16 and it's weird feeling the gap that exists at the back of your mouth, like it just suddenly drops off and then there's the back wall of your jaw.

On another note, I was thinking of buying a basic dentistry kit (scalar pick, dental probe, tartar scraper, mirrors, lights etc.) just to remove my own tartar so I don't have to pay the $400 every 6 months to get them removed. Plus it can allow me to check my teeth/gums more effectively so I can determine whether I need to see a dentist. Do you guys think that's overkill? If not, do you have any other advice for self-dental work?

I guess.

Manually scaling beneath the gumline on yourself would be a bitch though

Yeah that would be stupid. I'm just talking about clearing off tartar build up around teeth 21-28 and also being able to more easily assess the health of the 4-5 fillings I've had throughout my life. I have 2 molars that have very deep grooves and I've been told to monitor more closely since cavity detection is almost impossible in a mirror.

Oh good I've been looking for somewhere to bitch about this.

I made an appointment with Aspen Dental not realizing they were a big shitty scam of a company. I scheduled for a routine cleaning since I needed to start going back to the dentist regularly. Well, unbeknownst to be, they don't do that. They first perform an exam so they can tell you your teeth are severely diseased and will fall out any minute.

Whisked me away to speak with the (accountant?) not-doctor about how much it'll cost to have the deep extensive cleaning I desperately needed to get rid of the disease, and 5-6 fillings. The cleaning would need to be done in two separate appointments within the next 7 days and I have to pay half (of the $3k total AFTER insurance) right then when I schedule. Also I was told I had to buy a "prescribed" electric toothbrush (~$500) and it had to be from them and not the same one off amazon.

I said that's dumb I never heard of that being a thing, so I walked out and I scheduled a new appointment at a family dentist. Who did my normal cleaning in the first appointment and told me to floss more, and diagnosed me with needing 2 fillings. No gum disease.

Did enough googling after to realize Aspen Dental diagnosis everyone with periodontal disease (at best) and doesn't do regular cleanings but only the "deep clean" bullshit. Apparently many people have had all their teeth removed and pushed to get dentures when that was Aspen's big selling product.

I hate the dentists' jihad against wisdom teeth. They don't even try to fix them, it's just PULL! PULL! PULL!

My wisdom teeth are mostly fine, they don't cause pain but the top two grew outwards toward the cheeks and the lower two are underneath a gum flap. I've tried asking dentists to correct these issues so I can keep all my teeth, but they always say nope, sorry buddy, nothing we can do, time to get the tweezers. NO FIX. ONLY PULL.
So because the only options I've been given are either do nothing at all or Total Wisdom Tooth Death, I can only try to keep the gum flaps as clean as I can and hope they don't rot.

DO NOT DO THIS, WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT DO THIS

THERE IS A REASON THE DENTIST LEARNED HOW TO DO THIS
You will end up fucking up your enamel and possibly damaging your gums to the point where you introduce bacteria into your bloodstream and that ends up killing you. Tartar should only be removed by a dentist. Regular plaque can be removed with just a toothbrush and floss at home though

Even dentists have their own dentists

Around the teeth isn't going to help you out if you do not get the tartar underneath the gumline. Go to a damn dentist. The cost of the dentist is cheaper than the damage you'll do to your own teeth trying to get that tartar and then not properly removing the tartar underneath the gums.

Intact, sans for my wisdom teeth (paying out of pocket for that fucking sucks).

Having poor teeth might be my greatest fear in life.

All of my wisdom teeth are straight, have grown as they should and have given me zero problems - I've been told that that's not too common, apparently.
As far as I understand (I have researched very little), this is a very good sign, according to biodecoding/biogenealogy. Teeth represent conflicts within the body and how they relate to emotional wounds, especially in the family.

A relative reversed 3 cavities with this method, I've only been doing the coconut + rosemary oil pulling (and I now only wash my teeth with coconut oil instead of toothpaste) and have been seeing great results myself:

This usually leads to long arguments but rinse or dont after brushing teeth? i know some people keep that paste on their teeth and go to sleep.
Aspen Dental
you know what really pisses me off, that they are a huge business and are growing too, meaning plenty of retards, especially ones with kids go to these places and get their teeth destroyed because something as simple as "let's ask for a 2nd opinion" doesn't enter their minds. I know numerous relatives from poor areas that have gotten suckered by these types of places. Like its crazy how people don't treat these places and especially doctors like car mechanics. "oh i need surgery? i'll get a 2nd opinion" and poof, suddenly they're perfectly fine.

I have a relative who's an EMT and outside of being a boomer sperg he's ok, but he doesn't trust pretty much anyone, he's near indian tier in terms of expectations for any place outside of resturants. He treats doctors like they're cell phone kiosks, and can go hours on how much they're over charging or just creating bullshit codes to bilk money out of people. it's like $2k to get wheelchaired out of a hospital, and you don't actually have to use it.
