Your entire industry’s getting fucked, unfortunately. The actor and writer strikes pretty much ensured that the top 10-20% get paid more and the rest get paid less. Studios have also cancelled numerous projects, so now actors and actresses are walking into a barren land of upcoming projects. We’ve mentioned this many times previously, but here it is again.
The reality is that acting, at least for now, has to be delegated to a part-time gig or a hobby, or as someone mentioned before, create a parallel economy with indie studios or studios that aren’t in league in Hollywood. Or stage plays.
I love the arts and I wanted to do acting/voice acting in my younger days. But the expensive costs of living in California, on top of the shitty culture of the people that live there (particularly in Los Angeles and San Francisco) killed it for me. The whole reason we have a MeToo problem and a strain between men and women is because of Hollywood. Fucking Jennifer Lawrence slept with Darren Aronofsky while filming
mother! and still has no idea what the film was about. Why should I work with people with these fucked-up relationships?
The best part is you don't even need to know how to act in asian movies/TV shows if all the Americans/European actors I see in their stuff is anything to go by. Just look the part.
We may laugh at the opening to the original Resident Evil but that's still the standard when it comes to asian media.
Not a bad idea. A lot of East Asian works look like they just grab a foreigner off the street and tell them to act.
And it happens vice-versa. Many actors like Kevin Spacey and others have now gone to acting in foreign films and more independent films. Fan Bingbing is basically cancelled in China, so she has to find work in the West and South Korea.
It's very simple. When you were asked if you want leopards to eat people's faces, did you say "yes," or "no?" If you said "yes," then when your face gets eaten, I just don't care.
I can never understand folks that don’t see why their logic makes no sense. Not an attack on you.
Politicians are voted in to enact policies that have an effect on the culture and economy of said location. What would even be the point of voting or encouraging people to vote if that meant nothing in the end? What would even be the point of giving these people power if it meant nothing in the end?
So we have a situation where a particular culture promotes trooning, electric vehicles, abortion rights and general “compassion” above housing prices and crime, and you end up with what we have now: elevated budgets and deficits, houses that would cost $50,000 in Missouri costing several hundreds of thousands of dollars in California, and crime that has let people to, instead of voting differently, just abandoning the area altogether. Ideally, you would switch your votes but our social dynamics are so screwed that hasn’t been happening. Instead of blaming the left or blaming themselves, it’s blaming capitalism. And they in no way would do this same treatment with the right.
It’s a meme, but that doesn’t make it untrue.
