Fallout series

Old World Blues (The Hoi4 Mod) is well worth a try if you have Hoi4, just stick to big name Nations (NCR, Caesars Legion, the BOS nations excluding the Washington Brotherhood, New Reno, Vault City, ETC). OWB suffers the same issue as base Hoi4 where it has a bunch of Nations in it but 80 to 90% use generic focus trees and pretty much only exist to fill out the map.

Rivet City android quest is a huge fuckup, as it sets the level of robotics beyond anything previously established, all robots before 3 are either massive and/or completely non-anthropomorphic and very limited in functions that they can perform, then out of nowhere you have an android, with its human proportions, who is not only indistinguishable from a living being, but also possess the level of intelligence that could be considered human like.
It's called "newer writers watched too much anime."

That's legitimately what it is. If you ever watch RoboDoc, the documentary about RoboCop, they explain that while they took inspiration from a Japanese artist who illustrated robots very similarly to what was in Atomic Heart, they insisted a robot could not look too human by virtue of being a robot.

Now, because of anime and anime-inspired characters like 2B from Nier Automata, they have to be indistinguishable from humans so they can be fucked. It legitimately is that simple.

If you really think about it, it makes sense. Bethesda merely gave the rights to Obsidian just to further capitalize on the success of Fallout 3. They intended the game to be kind of a cash job. However, Obsidian saw this as an opportunity to take the franchise back to its roots and took heavy inspiration from the original failed concept of Fallout 3.

Internally at Bethesda they must've been seething when they saw the game's success. New Vegas was outright detrimental to their efforts to take the franchise in a completely new direction. This would explain why they withheld Obsidian's bonus for a single point on Metacritic, despite the game's overwhelming success.
Tim Cain is really wanting to die on this Fallout TV hill.
Amazon's Fallout Show was a deliberate attempt by Bethesda to psyop Fallout fans into forgetting about both New Vegas and old Fallout. Frankly, I think it's working. Now with Microsoft providing an infinite money glitch for Bethesda, they will start beginning ruining their franchises one by one starting with Elder Scrolls 6. Sales be damned.

it's obvious bethesda just doesn't care
it's not that they despise obsidian or the originals
they just don't care
it's really not that deep
only reason you say they hate obsidian is that you still care despite their decisions being utterly incomprehensible since it's their ip now
the reality is they don't care because if they really hated the originals, they'd have pulled it from stores or something

can we stop with the bitching already?
for the love of god, it's nothing but pages of this
todd isn't some insidious demonic entity: he's a corporate puppet you all bought the image of hook line and sinker

bethesda, like most modern companies, just doesn't care
they're too big to fail now that they're part of microsoft
people who work there probably don't even give a shit about making a good game and are more concerned with getting paid
the idea they're angry and spiteful is just cope for the fact allowing the desecration of what you love was tuesday for them

No. The bitching will continue until morale improves. Because any thread, on any part of the internet that discusses Fallout or TES, will always revolve more around seething over Godd Howard and how Bethesda raped their childhood than just talking about the games themselves.

Because that's more entertaining than discussing the same mods over and over again that basically everyone uses, the 1000000000th New Vegas Power Struggle sperg fest, flexing tism over Chem lore and whether or not Ulfric is racist.

Same shit no matter where you go to talk about any of these games.

The least they could do is be funny about it.

They say they're laughing, but it's pure sneed

bethesda, like most modern companies, just doesn't care
They never cared. None of these companies ever cared (Edit: More than enough to sell you a product). George Lucas didn't care, Miyamoto didn't care, Kojima didn't care, etc. etc.

It's something I realized following late Gen X/Early Millennials through the years. They put so much emotion and thought into these cartoons and movies (and eventually games) that were nothing but advertisements for fucking toys/products. They've always complained about people who mocked them for enjoying it, never realizing that they weren't being mocked for liking it but for being fucking faggots about it.

A lot of people never seem to get that this is all made up bullshit. It's not real, thus it should never have been held sacred.

I'm not saying people can't be bummed, upset or angry. But a lot of people need to stop being so fucking gay about it.

This is correct and yet not correct.

It's correct that they do not care. However, at the end of the day a lot of these types do want validation, just not from people who care about different things.

Fallout 4 gets a lot of flak for the writing but the player progression is what I'm not a huge fan of. Ignoring the power armor you get early, fallout 4 doesn't have that same terraced progression of armors and weapons that 1,2,3,NV had. The levelled lists for armor feel too narrow, by that I mean by the time you get around to finding or buying a full set of leather armor, the early game armor in previous titles, odds are you've found a piece of combat armor, a mid to late game thing.

I do understand why it was like this, having a mishmash of found pieces to create a wasteland suit of armor is very fallouty.

Weapons have the same issue with the bottle neck of better weapons not really being higher leveled enemies carrying them, but of modding weapons to be better. Very understandable decision and fun but not quite the same feeling putting a scope and a silencer on a gun as finding a unique version of the assault rifle like in fallout 3

I wanted to talk about the New Vegas Bounties 3 fan rewrite for Marko but that got deleted from the Nexus or some reason. Also, Legion Supremacy. Everyone is racist in the Elder Scrolls.
lore is gay
I'm not sure if the jet thing even quantifies as lore when it was more of a continuity error. While it should've been corrected, it's not that bad since it was just a terminal entry. Lotta of that note/log shit is just filler at worst and flavor at best.

i didnt even know there was a jet thing
being upset at any retcons involving dates is dumb

This seems like a very weird bridge to draw since Fallout 3 predates Nier by a country mile. It's a fucking Bladerunner reference my guy.

Well, it is absolutely true Bethesda does not and has not ever cared about keeping their settings consistent and lore accurate, but there is an underlying element of seethe you cannot escape regarding how they treat their fanbase and the way they talk about New Vegas/Obsidian feels like there is hurt feelings there.

Specifically when Todd says they will never ever ever let another team take one of their IPs to do a stopgap game, I don't see any way to read that as petty and vindictive.
Frankly, I think it's working
Well Fallout fans, even 3 and New Vegas ones, are fucking old. This is Fallout for zoomies now. It's basically just Borderlands with Vault Suits.
But a lot of people need to stop being so fucking gay about it.
There is this pervasive narrative that you just shouldn't give a fuck about things and you need to stop complaining when stuff you like gets raped because it's gay and annoying and I find THAT gay and annoying.

Faggots who complain about faggots complaining need to quit sticking their dicks into the conversation, that has nothing to do with them, to try and flaunt how above it all they are. Yeah, I get it, you're enlightened and too smart to care about shit. Very cool.
but the player progression is what I'm not a huge fan of.
What drives me nuts with the elimination of skills is that you now have to invest like 20 to 30 perks into workhorse perks like damage boosts for your firearms to even stay viable through early and mid game. By the time you get to actually define a build or play style and dip into more interesting perks you have cleared over half the map.

This is the thing with Bethesda. They can never just admit that they goofed something up. It makes sense, they're massive games with tons of history and lore, nobody would care if someone just said "Oh, yeah, that's just a mistake. Oops."

Instead they double down, bitch about people who DARE to point out inconsistent writing, then weaponize their equally retarded fanbase to beat down anyone asking for them to put a modicum of effort in.

I found that extremely frustrating as well, which is why I'll cheat myself a few perk points every few levels (or begin my game with ~10 points to start off with) to overcome this intentional throttling of player progression

You are correct, I spoke without stopping to remember as usually what I said is what it is. My mistake.

Fallout fans were already psyopped by Fallout 4. It's honestly not surprising how successful this show is considering the success of that game. The majority of Fallout fans (and Bethesda fans tbh) stopped caring about the quality of the story a long time ago.
