Some of these things become easier to explain once you consider his autistic obsession with his schedule.
I wouldn't necessarily call it "autism", but I'm willing to bet my bottom dollar that Phil's ultimate obsession is money, along with self defeating thoughts, and avoidant personality disorder. This is a small analysis of what I think could be going on with Dave.
We can all agree that Phil has an obsession with money. Hell, the idiot "works" six days a week, because he has an obsession with money and seeing the tips goal in his PayPal account go up and up and up, but he can't save a dollar to save his life. His only "job" is to siphon his dents SSI checks into his PayPal account as a scheme to get money out of them. It has jack and shit to do with streaming, his passion for games, etc...his job and ONLY job is to lie to get money out of his dents pocket into his pocket.. He has pushed away friends, family, and the only woman that has ever loved him away for the chase of money. He will LIE to your face, as he's done multiple times, that he is flat broke, even though he made $1,000 last night. He's also said this before: "Once a new stream begins, a new tips goal has to be met. Yeah, I made money on the day stream, but that money is gone, you fucking idiot." As a mature adult with a non business degree, who also pays bills and taxes, I don't have daily bills....but, I also have a budget, which is something Phil doesn't have. Phil wants to maintain the lifestyle he is used to, along with pouring more money into gacha because he is scared of the reality he has created for himself, along with running away from something he doesn't want to face, which is himself and the self defeating thoughts and the creeping reality he has created for himself.
The self defeating thoughts, or as Phil has labeled it as "depression", that is something he has admitted on stream. Seeing a licensed psychologist and get a official diagnosis? No! That's what Google is for, you idiot! Phil likes to self diagnosis himself, which is EXTREMELY dangerous because 9 times out 10, you're DEAD wrong about it. Like I said before, the word "narcissist" is thrown around so much, it's lost it's meaning, but people that have NPD (Narcissist Personality Disorder) have a negative self image of themselves already, but he'll claim it's "depression". Clinical depression, Phil...because I know he'll read this, is a chemical imbalance in the frontal cortex, with neurons not firing serotonin and dopamine and in the proper timing. Things like working out can increase serotonin and dopamine, along with getting vitamin D, or taking vitamin supplements to keep your vitamin D levels up, and the proper medication from a licensed professional, if the case of clinical depression is too drastic. Also, other things like PTSD can lead to clinical depression, it can also be inherited, etc....Which leads to the last one: avoidant personality disorder.
Avoidant Personality Disorder, again I am
*NOT* a licensed clinician that can clinically diagnosis, but I am someone with a LOT of classical training in psychology: such as abnormal psychology, criminal psychology, early childhood development, and cognitive psychology, along with a strong background in organic biology, organic chemistry, and A&P. I have a knowledge of how our bodies work and minds work. That TMI aside, Phil fits the mold. Avoidant Personality Disorder is as follows:
- Tending to exaggerate potential problems or misinterpret feedback as negative.
- Being shy and self-conscious in social situations due to a fear of doing something wrong or feeling embarrassed.
- Experiencing extreme anxiety (nervousness) and fear in social settings and relationships. This may lead them to avoid activities or jobs that involve being with others.
- Seldom trying anything new or taking chances.
- May be reluctant to become involved with others unless they know for sure that others will like them.
Phil has a known history of being confrontational online, but in person, he's been described as "meek and quiet", even barely speaking above a whisper. This could be the case of why Phil avoids any social interactions with people that aren't his dents, for fear of either being embarrassed, as his already negative self image is clear and apparent. When Leanna broke up with him, he admitted he used to go grocery shopping at night to "avoid the crowds", he does his best to avoid any social interactions with anyone in person for fear of "being embarrassed" or doing something wrong...and if something does go wrong, it's the other persons fault, dood! That's where the NPD kicks in.
I think his schedule really has to do with him and APD and NPD, as why he keeps to his six days a week to "work", to avoid any social interactions with people who may see him in a negative light and don't know his online persona of being the guy that wanked it on stream or who blew a down payment on a house on gacha. However, the fuck do I know? According to Phil, I'm a "mouth drooling moron".
