Which is the best?

I remember doing LUA scripting to make airplanes a long time ago in this game. Then I think years later some "wire" thing came out and the game looked really different and gay and did all the work for you.

Garry posted on Twitter that they are looking into the DMCAs to see if its actually Nintendo or if its a DMCA Troll. They should have done that before making a Steam News post but fuck that I guess.

Garry Newman has responded on twitter (archive wip, archive.today seems fucked) saying that he believes the DMCAs are true and honest. Maybe something else has happened behind the scenes. That or his team or lawyers just decided not to rock the boat in the face of the troll findings.

I do like the people shielding for him in the replies: '...I think the creator of the game would know more than any of you. Thanks.' Garry may be a smart engine coder but that doesn't disqualify him from falling for phishing tier fake email addresses. That's the entire point of making phishing tier scams look legit at a glance.

Have you seen the state of s&box recently?
'May' being the operant term. Turning source 2 into a strange retard baby of source and unity is definitely an interesting direction to take it. His obsession with changing to a scene system and fucking with the client-server conventions are certainly interesting in theory. Whether the game will ever come out or work is yet to be seen.

I doubt it. They probably patented the bullshit building mechanics from Tears of the kingdom.

I wonder if Nintendo is planning to launch some creative software like GMOD, but with nintendo assets? Sorta like a mix of game builder garage with super smash bros
Let's be real here, they're doing this shit for sport. They're not going to do anything about it and just DMCA for the sake of it. Just like when they purged Nintendo music from Youtube a couple of years ago.

Since Garry is just fine with systematically destroying his game and its history (rip garrysmod.org and facepunch forums). You should take backups of all your subscribed addons since steam will automatically delete a mod if its removed from the workshop. You can find downloaded addons in
Code:
SteamLibraryLocation\steamapps\workshop\content\4000
Copy all of these somewhere safe. Then if you want to use them you need to extract the GMA or .bin using GMAD.exe located in the Garry's mod install bin folder. Once extracted just drop the files into the mod folder inside the gmod install, make an individual folder for each mod.

The Internet truly is not forever.

Vindicated again. I'm not sure why people were so sure that Nintendo ( a company notorious for being hyper-protective of their IP) wouldn't send a takedown to remove their characters/assets in other games.

This is the reason that mods shouldn't be hosted centrally in an easy to takedown place like the Steam Workshop. Yes, it is way more convenient than other places, but shit can just get removed instantly with no recourse.

Wish I knew about this when all those trihard maps and games that I used to play that got taken down by Gmod for having trihard music and being based on real life shootings. This one was one of my favorites. It was called I think "Bathrobe Dwane Simulator", where basically you played as Dwane, starting in his house which featured his bedroom that he did streams in, a room featuring 19 dead trihards, the living room and some weird unfinished Monkynoises room that was covered with Sopa de Macaco. Anyways you open the house's front door and there was a bunch of blacks who were mad that Dwane Lynched 19 of their fellow trihards so they attack Dwane and you have to fight back against them, and then you go to a BLM protest where you crash into the crowd with the buggy (I replaced it with a Dodge Charger cause of the memes). There was also trihard music that played, one was played after you leave Dwane's bedroom that started as a normal song before saying "Niggers" at the end and then another one where it was a trihard song with the lyrics "A black man lives upstairs, so I shot that Nigger, ate all his damn chicken". Also been looking for that song cause it seems impossible to find. Anyways I've gone way too much about this map, but it was a nice fun distraction.

BubGames has ascended to DMCA takedown requests to finally kill GMOD once and for all.

Since we have this terrible precendent now, gmod is probably going to fucking die relatively soon. By the way, there's a steam guide which has links to older gmod 10 versions archived (gmod 10, 11 and 12 since modern gmod version is numbered 13. By far 10 and 11 had the most SOUL). Those exist as separate source mods, but you need to own garry's mod in order to play these. Maybe some autist will fix up those archived versions one day so you can mount content from other source games easier.

This is why we don't put Nintendo and Disney things in our mods, people. Those should have been yanked down by the dev team instead of being left up. Now the whole site is going to suffer. Also this is why we have backups, archives, and most importantly multiple hosting avenues.
