Not as much as public schools
Just to be clear this wasn’t supposed to be a gotcha
@Android raptor or downplaying that there was systematic abuse within the Catholic Church. All pedo priests should be shot alongside public school teachers, however there is a general problem amongst institutions within the United States that allow creeps to systematically abuse children.
Since then their is more general awareness and many Churches Catholic, Protestant and otherwise have taken it upon themselves to ensure additive protections and measures to make sure that any priest who does something like this will face the justice they deserve whereas public schools have not and teachers unions prevent that from happening.
It makes perfect sense that
@isalaide to remove their children from an environment that they may feel to be suspicious and put them into a safer school just on feeling alone.
To play devil's advocate; that graph only takes catholic priests into account.
They were the ones that got the most spotlight due to it and the ones who have the most eyes on them. However, since it came to light the USCCB enforces measures on all Catholic Church’s and communities to make sure something like this never happens again.
I think both pedo priests and pedo school teachers are indicative of a bigger problem within society. You see with the priests, the main problem with why it happened for so long (obviously, outside of the molestation) was that bishops just didn’t want to deal with having their priests being outed as a pedophile and were to ashamed and too cowardly to go to the police about it so they would move them instead.
Negligence and Cowardice are why these people get away with it for so long so being actively aware of it a removing your children from any possible harm should be acceptable on gut instinct alone.
