Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

I really don't get why nobody's dropped the nu-lore. Nobody would care. People would in fact love going Disco Demolition Night on wizlore.
There's a lot of pride riding in BT never doing full retcons. FanPro decided to keep up the tradition, and that's just about the only thing giving CGL any credibility these days.

Furthermore I've not (since the 90s) truly understood how the Clans were seeing themselves as the saviors of true humanity but then degenerated instantly into weird ritual clone troopers. Unless it's supposed to be deeply ironic then it's pretty good, actually.
It is ironic, yeah. The entire Clan way of life was designed to remove them from their Inner Sphere roots, both culturally, societally, and morally. But without Inner Sphere moral guidelines and under pressure of living in such resource-poor worlds, they degenerated into authoritarian eugenicists and ironically pushed themselves much further than the Inner Sphere away from how society was during the Star League times. It's one of the reasons why they made such great villains.

To be fair to the clanners, original BT lore was that like 90% of people were peasant dirt farmers. The articulate, educated inner sphere people from the books were nobility and did not remotely represent the average person, who were living more like Fallout NPCs among the half-broken remains of technology they didn't remotely comprehend. As bizarre as the clans got, if you imagine that most of populated space looks like a South African shanty town it becomes much more understandable why the clans felt that they were superior to what had become of the rest.

There's probably some stipulation in their licence that stops them from changing the timeline to preserve CBT.

Good news everyone, CGL have sorted out the shipping issues with the Mercenaries kickstarter and its still terrible. It seems to range from being slightly less (but still very high) for some to outright way more than the previous cost all while still being far more than it was back during the Clans KS.

Yeah, one of my local players did the kickstarter and their first shipping cost was 220, now they are telling me its 120.

Who the fuck pays for 120 for shipping? I shipped more for my store for far less.

Don't... Kickstarters usually get the product themselves then re-ship it to the backers? And why the hell would any of this cost $250 to ship? Just what the hell are these kickstarters?

Doing it all in house is only viable for small scale KS or for those with the infrastructure in place to do it themselves, re-shipping ramps up shipping costs instead of going through an intermediate fullfilment company like CGL has. Funnily enough I looked into it and they're using the same people they used for the Clan Invasion KS (Quartermaster Logistics) and while that did have tons of problems a lot of them were outside of their control but more importantly the shipping costs were not terrible like they are now.

It looks like people all around have been complaining mainly about the crazy-high shipping cost for crazy-high pledges, but all I have here is just the base $80 pledge getting slapped with $28 shipping for a US location. That makes shipping take up about 25% of the total order, which even then seems very high to me in this age when so many online retailers offer either <$10 or completely free shipping for meeting minimum ~$50 subtotal. This is more like the shipping price of stuff delivered from Japan. This is the first time I've ever used Kickstarter, so I don't know whether this typical shipping cost for the site.
My shipping cost to US for base $80 pledge went from $28 to $22, which is better, but still bad compared to the norm.

Kerensky was nuttier than squirrel shit? That's the only thing I can think of.

Yeah i really cant recall his first name.
Alexander (or Aleksander) is the old man who saved the Star League before fucking off and leaving it to the mercy of the Great Houses, his fuck-up of a son who created the Clans is Nicholas Kerensky, and his other son who should have been the one who lived was named Andery Kerensky.

Naturally the Clans all fellate Nicholas, pay some lip service to Alexander for getting them out of the Inner Sphere, and completely forget that Andery ever existed, despite the fact that the 99% of the Kerensky genes still floating around are probably his on account of the fact Nicholas was quite literally insane as a result of inherited mental issues from his mother's side of the family that Andery seems to have thankfully avoided.

There are actually two Kerensky Bloodhouses since Nicholas naturally set up one of his own but Andery also successfully tested in during the first round, but since only Clan Wolf possesses any Bloodrights to the name they've just folded it into one.

Yeah, actually that would be pretty interesting if CGL put out an anthology of what-if Andery lived and Nicholas died? That would be cool, so its never going to happen.

Nothing much interesting would happen since Andery was a chill guy unlike his psycho, schizo brother. His rule over the Clans is cemented via diplomacy instead of wiping out the Wolverines (especially since he was very close to Sarah McEvedy), and the Crusaders get off to a very bad start as a result of his more civilian-oriented mindset that would see the Wolverines, Ghost Bears, and Sea Foxes favored. Most likely you wind up with a Warden-lead invasion, disgusted by the maltreatment of the people there by their leaders and the barbarism displayed during the war, and are welcomed by a great many people as saviors.

Obviously they would still be extremely militaristic, but compared to the canon Clans there'd be a significant element of noblesse oblige to how the Warriors ran things.

It'd probably be a later invasion too, going into a fifth SuccWar or maybe even a FedCom revived Star League.

Get the Game of Armored combat box and plays a small 4v4 lance game with your friends and branch out from there.
