St. Elmos Fire sucks - Not everything from the eighties deserves pop culture nostalgia

It is nostalgic, but St Elmos fire is a big meh. Its about growing up and the transition from high school to adulthood;

But so much of the setting of the movie is completely foreign to current generations (imagine a functioning economy).

Theres good points, but nostalgia for it is is like millennials having nostalgia for Scott Pilgrim.

St Elmos Fire is easily one of the weakest brat pack films from the 80s. It's supposed to be a more serious 'coming of age' thing but bleh, everyone's fuckin miserable and it makes everyone watching miserable.

The song absolutely kicks ass. It was one of those upbeat 80's montage-style songs akin to "You're The Best" from Karate Kid and "Hearts on Fire" from Rocky IV.

Fun fact: the singer of St. Elmo's Fire is actually a British guy named John Parr, who sings with an American accent. Infamous turbo-cuck Todd in the Shadows covered this song on One Hit Wonderland.
