Sony hate thread

Holy shit. It takes less than 5 minutes to make a fucking sony account. Grow the fuck up. If there were less toxic faggot "pC mAsTeR rACe" people playing the game, maybe they wouldn't have bothered doing this in the first place? The moment something slightly inconveniences PC gamers, they chimp out and act like they're a member of some underground resistance movement or something.

It's cringe, and gay, stop it.

I'm not a sony fan, but It would be pretty funny if they refunded all the PC players, removed the game from PC, and ported the game to Xbox though.
Actually it's quite a hassle that you have to log on to another account. The games that require you to log on to third party website are red flags. This is precisely the reason why I bought only one ubisoft game even though there were a few older ones that interested me. And Sony really is the last publisher you want to trust your information with.

Seems the Arrowhead Defense Force troons can suck it though. Arrowhead CEO admitted they knew 6 MONTHS prior to launch that PSN linking would ultimately be required. Arrowhead engaged in straight up fraud.

Put yourself in the shoes of someone who is a dev and maybe doesn't have a vast gaming library.
You haven't been pestered by nagging for third party shit, anticheats, etc, in multiplying hordes, just a few here and there which are not big deal from your experience.
You're presented by a process that is easy for you and for a prospective user to simplify the community moderation process.

This is what happened here.
A dev reached for a tool that on paper sounds good.
The problem is PC gamers have been nagged by third party data miners multiplying into legion.
They stepped on a landmine here caused by imperfect knowledge.

I think they're honestly trying to make it right, but it's a fucking weekend and it will take days to map out a new solution and have a fight in the broom closet with sony.

Give me all the rainbows and trashcans now, and call me a dick eater.

EDIT:
"oh but they should have done more market research"
Most games are bland goyslop because dev houses care more about focus groups than creativity.
I'd rather have mistakes like this happen than have no games like Helldivers2 at all.

That's all fine and good until they want the rights to my IP. There are two types of publishers the ones that stay in their place, do the background shit they are expected to do and maybe sway a few things here and there. Then you have publishers like this where your just slaves making a game for them to sell, your not a part of a mutual deal your pretty much just contractors.

I'm referring to arrowhead, not Sony.
Bear in mind Arrowhead relinquished the IP when they were making the first game (an isometric RTS?), not the second.
The first game was released in 2015, which means the agreement to finance came before GamerGate

Sony probably presented PSN's linking capacity as a feature to ArrowHead to reduce the complexity of their player moderation system by having it only interface with one system rather than 2 or more.
When I codemonkey I jump at simplification and standardization.
The solution was presented as a simple click-through for users and if you're not a heavy gamer you don't understand the increasing level of nagging and concern with datamining that's growing over the past several years.

Resolving this is non-trivial and will require them to code up another module to deal with steam and probably disentangle what is likely a unified module that combines mod tools with sony integration.
They would have to at least "spike" it and have discussions on feasibility even assuming 100% good will from Sony in the back-end.

What place? Since 2014, a console has been just a PC running a custom OS.

A PC with a Sony-branded/controller-operated launcher would be functionally indistinguishable from a Playstation.
explain then what's the difference between a locked down pc that works for retards and a console...?

Louis Rossmann, consumer right's advocate and his take on Helldivers 2 requiring a PSN account to play on PC.

Yeah, but this situation differs entirely by being PSN a bunch of authoritarians pieces of shit in general.
Ubisoft doesn't care much, Square neither, Rockstar had their own stupid launcher but nothing more.
Sony is the real problem here.

I'll be honest, I have 100+ hours on the game, I don't really give a fuck about creating a Sony account since I'll be giving them a throw-away email and fake information anyways (thank God I'm not Brit*sh) but I'm tempted to request a refund anyways since I'm already burnt out and I could use the money to essentially get EDF6 for free next month.
I've heard rumors that people are getting refunds, regardless of hours played. I'd be curious to know if that's actually true.

There isn't one. That's my point - there is no difference left and that market has become untenable.

If you look at the sales of this gen, it's obvious that even a lot of the niggercattle are realizing it. If I'm going to buy a relatively expensive piece of computing hardware, I might as well buy the one I can also use for my taxes and Excel spreadsheets.

A lot of people buy consoles just to play free to play games when they have some spare time outside of other life commitments. If that’s all you want to do consoles make sense since they are usually cheaper upfront and the locked down nature means theres less to setup and configure. Right now the most popular games on PlayStation in my region are FC Football, Fortnite, NBA 2K, Warzone, APEX, Genshin, Overwatch 2. Helldivers 2 isn’t even in the top 10.

If all you want to play is one of those f2p games or sports games you can walk into a store and pickup a PS5 knowing that your game will run decently with zero configuration or prior research. Lots of kids get consoles for Christmas each year and I’d consider getting a console with locked down parental controls over a computer for my kids when they inevitably start asking for something that let’s them play Fortnite. I also know a guy in his late 60s with an Xbox Series X that he uses just to play Flight Simulator, nothing else. For these types of situations I think consoles are easier to deal with then a pc.

Even this becomes less and less true with ever subsequent generation.

"Do I get the Xbox S or X? Do I play in performance or quality mode? What's ray-tracing and why do I have option to turn it on or off? Why do I have to install patches and system updates every single day? How come new games I buy at launch have terrible performance and crash all the time? I thought consoles were supposed to be easy!"

And it only gets worse with time.

I'm utterly finished with this company. I'm finished purchasing licenses for media, and I'm never giving them a cent again, period.

This Helldivers nonsense is pretty much the last straw, even though I never played the game or had any interest in playing it. I don't want this garbage to keep bleeding into the PC market, which is becoming like home to me.

Between this and chinese shovelware I've become increasingly cynical of gaming.
I just let streamers filter it for me and only buy after i've seen extensive gameplay.
