Audi right? They aren't made like they used to be. Pax Audi has to be their inline 5 turbo.

Take it from someone who has been doing time as a car guy for 20 years at this point and has had and worked on too many old german cars, audis always sucked. There's a reason, aside from their relatively low sales volume, that when you go to major car shows you see every make represented, including old cars that were only imported after 25yrs, but almost never see classic audis. The reason is that they have always been fucking junk. They were prone to rust and weird failures, hard to find parts for and expensive to have serviced, so most of them, even the cool ones like the turbo 5 cars, got junked ages ago. Audi today is arguably better than they were 20 years ago. 2.7 turbo Audis are some of the worst german cars ever made, they're painfully bad. Audis of that era are chrysler tier junk but with worse parts availability and cost. Everything falls apart inside them too. I've been to some of the richest and most diverse car shows the US has to offer, from cars and coffees in CA and FL to concours events and exhibitions. I have seen more McLaren F1s than group B era audis in the past decade.

For example. Audi 5k/Quattro. Hydraulic boosted brakes. No room under the hood for vacuum? Nah, not really. Hydraulics doing other things like a Citroen? Nope. No, they just did it and then, y'know, leaking $20+/liter fluid fucking everywhere. And god fuckin' help you if you run out.

I guess they did it to make the fit the same for diesels? But like, just throw a vac pump on those like a normal person.

Oh! And Audi V8 engines and UFO brakes. Glorious German Engineering.

V8 Audis… I saw a 4.2L RS4 (B7?) last year and I was so thrown off by what I had seen that I made a U turn and went triple digits to catch up and admire it. I haven’t seen one of those in a decade and it isn’t even an old car they are just that damn rare now. I rarely see even regular B7 Audis… Today’s 5cyl Audis are little rockets. RS3s do 11s stock, they are awful to look at though. The latest facelift had them going from pretty nice looking cars to just eww

Yeah, this is actually one of their better ones. The 3.0 supercharged was the only recommened one. I probably won't get one again. I won't get free tunes and parts this time, plus uh...not a fan.

I do say, I like awd for higher horsepower. It's nice to be able to just drop the hammer and for it to just go.
If I sell this, I'll probably get a mustang or an m3. Or go full retard and get an m5 or m6 w/ the v10

If you could get the i5 turbo in something that wasn't the rs3, I'd be so down. If I had the money / time I'd try and throw it in this s4. The rs3 is literally just a golf which makes me iffy on it. Maybe if the price drops, but I'm not spending 50-60k on a golf.
I suppose you could go Volvo for a decent i5 turbo in their C30. It's not a speed demon but it should scoot pretty good. They're kinda rare though.

Like I said, the B8 was the first one a german mechanic has ever said "yeah get it". After developing stuff for them, idt I'll ever get a VAG product again. Maybe porsche...maybe. I'm a bimmer boi tho.

I replaced my throttle position sensor, and my broken ac magically works fine now. Im so fucking happy. Thats all.
Nevermind. AC worked great for 2 days and quit again. But those 2 days were glorious. No idea what made it work then not work, the new sensor made a noticeable improvement in performance though.

Remember to change your cabin air filter once in a while.

Since design trends tend to repeat themselves, I'm still waiting for when boxy designs with simple, straight lines of cars from 70s and 80s make a return. I cannot stand the contemporary cars where they all look samey, with a bazillion bends and curves that give off the impression that the designers are taking inspiration from cheap chinese power tools.
As a reference, this is one of my favorite euro sedans of all time - 80s VW Santana:

That said, contemporary cars are a "fix it yourself" motorist's nightmare - I'm wary of ever having to purchase anything made after the year 2000. I've heard good things about contemporary Dacias, them being the perfect car for someone who prioritizes barebones practicality over bling. Do any kiwis have experience with them?

Boy does Tesla have a cybertruck for you.

Not going to happen. The aero egg shape is here to stay with ever tightening fuel economy and emissions standards, and pedestrian safety standards have ruined all hope of low hood lines, angular front ends, and ornaments. The cybertruck is probably the least pedestrian friendly design of the last 30 years but that’s only because of light trucks being exempt. You have to have an active safety system that pops the hood up to sell any car with a low hood line but you can sell a blocky 8,000lb stainless steel monstrosity because “light truck”

Low hood lines are mostly done for, but I think that the Hyundai Ioniq5 actually has a very 80's retro/vaporware look (especially with the dot-matrix lighting). It's like they took a Lancia Delta and just scaled everything up by 20%:

Korea has you.

By Korea, I mean BMW designers in Korea.

dunno if I've suffered a brain injury or if Peugeot is now actually making half way decent looking cars, I'm scared I always thought Peugeot intentionally made ugly cars.

My 2012 Prado keeps piston slapping to the point where it breaks a pad in two in under 15k miles. Just ordered new pads, rotors and calipers and was shocked it ran me less than $300
