If the shithead owns discotek, then what the fuck was the point of buying Animeigo?
What a fucking retard if that's true.
What's he gonna do with the Animeigo brand that can't be better fulfilled by the discotek brand?
Both effectively cater to old school anime fans, save that disotek does occasionally put out somewhat more modern releases, ex: titles from the 2000's/2010's and does only barebones, disc only releases.
Whereas as of late Animeigo has been doing very top of the line collectors sets funded by kickstarters.
However Sevakis in his town hall pretty much has shown that he doesn't plan on continuing that trend and is going to stick with the discotek model of disc only releases.
Soooo what was the point of acquiring Animeigo, to only do the same shit?
I'll repeat it; what a fucking retard.

To quote Judge Doom from Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

"I bought the Red Car so I could dismantle it."

He doesn't own Discotek. The Florida Secretary of State has Selby Johnson and Lucy Dean listed as the registered agents/managers of the business.

Not even surprised the jackass lied through his teeth.
But he has THE most over inflated ego ever, seriously. Based on the posts he makes on bluray forum, you'd think he did have a run of the company. Posting crap like he "influences" what titles they pick up, etc., etc...
I don't want Animeigo to be run into the ground, but I'm not gonna be surprised if it ends up shuttering in couple years or so.

The "town hall" was much ado about nothing. He's planning to focus on titles from the 2010s for Discotek. The faithful translation claim seems to contradict what the next slide mentions, that subtitles will be more in line with their standards. He mostly kvetches about how much of a hassle it has been and to keep the best-selling titles in print and reissue current titles with minor changes such as adding a synopsis, etc. Also, if they reissue older titles with significant upgrades, there will be an exchange program that will eventually happen.

It was always pretty obvious that Sevakis was the owner given how much he spoke for them. In particular with their response (or lack thereof) about Lovely Complex. But I suppose it has never been publicly acknowledged. At least until today.

You see, Justin Sevakis had a whole spiel after getting triggered by Youtuber MercuryFalcon for including suicide trigger warnings in front of old anime. Long virtue signal cut short, Sevakis doesn't think they work but one time he lent End of Evangelion to someone and she tried to hurt herself so he adds the trigger warnings. He got some pushback for this and proudly proclaimed he's the owner of Discotek as a dunk.

TL;DR - He doesn't say it that suicide warnings are so fucking gay that they make people wanna kill themselves out of cringe. Just like how racism warnings make people feel racist out of spite.

Discotek put one for the live action horror film Suicide Circle and it's so fucking stupid. With a name like that, you know what you're getting into.

I'm curious as to what he defines as "trash"?
Though I know damn well what he means: Clannad, K-on and Queens Blade.
All perfectly fine series in their respective genres, but he believes are "trash".
Titles that, for all intents and purposes, have kept Sentai afloat ,if not outright, kept them in the black for years.
The stuff he wants to license is going to be the stuff that, sadly, doesn't keep the lights on at the end of the day.

Before Discotek was formed, the company was called Eastern Star and they released a lot of softcore sexy films from Japan and Hong Kong along with some gore flicks. I'm guessing those sorts of titles and ecchi stuff from Discotek such as the anime and live action version of Recently My Sister Is Unusual, Kiss x Sis and Miss Machiko. From the sound of it, he wants it to be more of a "prestige" label.

Guys, the owner of Discotek is Selby Johnson. Justin owns MediaOCD (the company that Discotek outsources to) and now Animeigo, which he purchased from Robert Woodhead like a year ago.

Edit - thanks for clarifying earlier Tolken Ethnic

He's referring to MediaOCD/Animeigo.

Again, he's referencing the company he owns that does the production work. Justin's retarded, but not that retarded to lie about something he's been open about consistently (that he and MediaOCD are contractors).

Because it had been a while since we saw another "Isekai Bad" tweet from ol' Caitlin...

Of course she's an anti-AI retard, does she not see the fact that the article says "unofficial fan", meaning some other anti-AI retard like her could be making shit up?

I swear, Caitlin is the type of person I can't even wish "Minecraft'ing" on, cause if she'll get isekai'd, some other world will have to deal with her.

Turns out that was not the first time MercuryFalcon pissed off someone from ANN. In 2022, Lynzee brought up that he called her piece on Sailor Moon and Todd a witch hunt:

What was the Eupho controversy again? I've been trying to ignore these degenerate and activist corners of the "fandom" lately.

Checked Bluesky to see if anyone said anything about the Eupho TWIA's backlash they didn't say on Twitter (there it was literally just the one Lynzee tweet I showed). Unfortunately nothing there also. I did however find Takato playing the victim because his pissweak defense was called out by other posters on the forum thread:

(it was common knowledge but for those who didn't know, Takato is a gay man)
He never provided evidence for his claim comphet is just a TERF word, either on his original ANN forum post or here. And he's still missing the issue of why yurifags are calling Eupho bait.

Oh Christ.. The old "that fictional character is gay and the writer is wrong and phobic for not making them so" argument. Shinji is the most retarded example. A conclusion you could only reach if you were totally ignoring the series and his empty neglected childhood, pretty much free of any love or friendship, finally finding a friend who doesn't treat him like shit, or as an after thought when not useful. As for Kaworu.. that's less clear.. But it's arguable if he even understands/has romantic or sexual feelings. He is Adam, the father of the Angels afterall.

Scrolling down Takato's posts for anything else, I found:

I normally gave Takato credit for not sperging about shit he doesn't like, but here he's banging that same old "I don't like these shows therefore they don't deserve dubs" drum.

These people are so far up their own ass that they believe they not only have the only correct taste, but the only popular one as well. rolls fucking eyes

Never seen Lauren review LNs before, but she's on the LN guide ANN published today. And she's so much more negative than (((Rebecca))) you wonder why they got her to do it.

Only one example, Management of Novice Alchemist. She handwrings about fanservice where (((Rebecca))) doesn't even talk about it, but read closer...

If I had a nickel for every time an ANN reviewer accused a writer of being a pedo...

What a bitchy cunt. That series was super light on the fanservice in even the worst (best) cases.
I can't put into words how much i wish we could get these types of fucks out and away from anime before they turn it into gaming. It's already starting down the Japanese gaming industry road at this point.

K-on was kind of fun and Queens Blade is great for what it is. Clannad (S1-S2) is something special as far as that kind of series go. A rare series like this that i can enjoy on more than just a fun, cute, relaxing or humor basis.

How can you be "anti-AI" in this sense? Nobody puts a gun to people's heads and tells them to stop writing. What they are really against is the possibility of content (from story to art to games) that can't be pressured into compliance or gatekept. Can't even make an argument without exposing what fear is living rent free in their heads on this issue. (fanservice and wrongfantasy)

The above applies once again.. Get these people out and away.

In short, war between the yurifags who call Euphonium queerbaiting because Kumiko ends up with a dude instead of Reina, and the autists who use equally retarded defenses for said "queerbaiting". ANN made a TWIA article where Steve and Farris take the latter side, defending Eupho as "not queerbait" with the same defenses. This article of course pissed off the yurifags on the other side, who found the article rather condescending to them. On the forum thread for the article Takato defended Euphonium against the dissenting yurifags.

Oh lol yurifags, they are almost as bad as fujofucks! Especially western ones who continually "fall" for female friendship and or non romantic/sexual adoration tropes. Though part of me just suspects that nontroversies like this are a way to try and crybully creators into doing what they want. That goes for both yuri and fujos.

Sad day that someone makes me kind of side with ANN on something.
