[Serious question] Should I visit Auschwitz?

take some cool pictures

It is a whole day trip, I don’t know if getting there and back from Krakow is always a pain in the ass but it was for me. I had to stand in a crowded bus for the whole 3-hour journey back. So if you go, go early, or take anything but the bus.

When I was there I saw a whole group of Israeli high school students (one of them was holding up a giant flag like a cape) posing and smiling for a photo under the Arbeit Macht Frei gate, probably in my top five strangest things I have ever seen. It’s also the strangest place I’ve bought and eaten a pizza. Thanks for giving me an excuse to tell this story.

That's what I suspected. I thought of doing something guided to avoid some of the problems , even though I really dislike guided stuff. Would you recommend it, if everything would have gone well? Was it interesting enough to dedicate 1/3 or 1/4 of your Krakow stay? Would I miss out on other, better things?

I think if you’re already in Krakow it’s worth going. Something so widely discussed and opined on is worth seeing with your own eyes.
