Sony hate thread

Compared to the relatively unknown and underrated Sony Playstation or what? What a fucking moron.
it's probably an excuse to not having to port the dragon engine to switch, without running and looking like ass

It really says a lot that I got excited for Switch at launch because the Joycons were red and blue.

I was just happy to have some fucking color FFS. Like I get Sony and Microsoft want to be all grown up and shit, but I play games to take me back to my childhood. My fucking McDonalds is a corporate obelisk, all of the buildings in my work area are corporate obelisks, I don't need my god damn entertainment to be corporate obelisks as well.

It's why I can't get too upset at people who spend a ton of money on RGB lighting and shit for their PC's. It's not "my" thing but I get that if you're paying top dollar you don't want it to just be a big hunk of black/white/grey.
playstation always had colored gamepads tho, I think the red/blue dualshock 4 weren't even limited to the point you could get them cheaper.

Called it. Not an expert on Swedish employment laws, but I can't imagine it's an easy process to suddenly fire a bunch of people given the country's high rate of unionisation.
That said, there's a few more CMs that need to be shitcanned from all this. Thankfully Purple was also demoted.
Hopefully, Pilestedt keeps whoever remains on a short fucking leash since he's clearly willing to rid himself of morons.
Biggest hopium is this all leads into getting rid of the kernel level anticheat, but not holding my breath.
there's no community manager union, besides he probably worked as contractor etc. to go around taxes and shit. if they were even paid in the first place.

as for the anticheat I assume that's mandated by sony, arrowhead just picked the cheapest to fulfill that contract obligation. otherwise I couldn't think of a reason anyone picking some korean anticheat software in 2024.

Every single one of Helldivers' community managers need to be fired. Don't feel any sympathy for Spitz, since this faggot was initially apart of the dogpiling. Baskinator needs to go simply on the basis that she's a shit boss period.

"I don't want your support."

'k. I mean, you never had it in the beginning, darling, but okay. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

work with the card manufacturers to get launch drivers and such.
It drives me nuts that this is still a thing developers do.

There's three API standards -- D3D, OpenGL and Vulkan. Fucking pick one, pick a stable API version, and just make your shit work with it. Adhere to the standard you pick and don't dick around with trickery and you won't need to pester the hardware vendors to fix your shit for you in their drivers when your hacks piss off the hardware.

It's not like the dev kits for all three console platforms don't support at least OpenGL and Vulkan, after all.

It's not that easy, OpenGL has been deprecated since 2017, superseded by Vulkan. The Xbox only supports Direct X, the PS5 uses Sony's proprietary API, only the Switch supports Vulkan and OpenGL.

I assume this chart is accurate (it might just be for this site's engine), its incredibly difficult to find information about this stuff, and I don't have access to any devkits to confirm myself.

The issue with Vulkan and DX12 is that for years graphics programmers complained and blamed all their issues on the graphics vendors not allowing them to do what they wanted because of the limitations of the drivers/APIs, so with Vulkan and DX12 they were given crazy low level access, but now its an utter pain in the ass to do anything compared to how simple it was in OpenGL. So now if you don't know exactly what you are doing, whatever you write will probably perform poorly. But you can't just use OpenGL as a fallback because now GPU vendors have started dropping support for it in the drivers, since the only big game still using it is Minecraft. If you try and play anything with OpenGL on one of the new Intel GPUs you will get abysmal performance, even the AMD drivers are starting to suffer.

Even DirectX stuff is performing worse now because modern GPUs have dropped support for the older versions, they are now emulated, which is why you get so much better performance by putting those games through DXVK, making it run natively on your GPU driver instead of being emulated.

I kind of don't want to blame everything going wrong with games on devs not being qualified anymore, since things that used to be incredibly simple have become incredibly complex.

PCfaggots rating this as autistic is the most pot calling kettle black shit lmao

Why do autistic people cry over sony? and why are they always PC or nintendofags?
kys, faggot.

If Sony are hoping the PS5Pro will move units because of GTA6 then lol, lmao even. GTA 6 will sell a lot of units to start but will then tank.

This confusing graphics API crap, along with all the proprietary SDKs per-platform, are the reason engines like Unity and Unreal blew up so much. You can make your game one time, and easily port it to the various platforms, instead of having to deal with all the insanity of the various platforms.

My girlfriend which might be called "normie" bought few years ago PS4 Pro in far foreign country where people sips tea in specific time of the day. In any case, she moved back to her homeland and as usual user she wanted to move from foreign PS Store to local one. To her surprise Snoy doesn't allow that. Even prohibits under ToS to do such malicious behavior. Her game library on that account isn't that big and she could re-log to it in case of need but that requires additional e-mail address specifically for that account.

On the other hand, Microsoft freely allows region change from their website.

I had the same deal. I move around a lot because of work. My PSN account is hardlocked to the UK (where I don't have an address or banking), and I can't transfer shit over to my current region. For that reason alone I never bought games on PSN, and ended up just cracking the PS3 wide open and pirating everything back in the day

These guys aren't defending Sony because they lack a frame of reference for anything else. They remember what came before. They have simply turned their brains off, and decided to hitch their cart to Sony, despite all the reasons not to.
I agree, and I would also like to add that this older demographic of people who used to be fans of Sony aren't fans of what Sony is now. Where the fuck is my Crash? My Spyro? Later on my (classic) God of War and Uncharted, even? Why would I simp for the company that killed all of its own IPs that I was a fan of in favour of fucking Spider-Man goyslop?

And GTA6 will be coming out relatively late in the console life cycle (assuming this generation has a standard lifespan; who even knows anymore?), so it won't have nearly the virtuous cycle effects that huge system-selling games usually do. People who sat out this generation until 2025 are unlikely to then go back and buy five years worth of games they obviously didn't care about.

I think R* wanted to make GTA6 cross-gen but it was either not ready or the gamer backlash from the 'leak' was so severe that they were forced to make it current gen only, with the caveat that they would release it when both consoles numbers were higher. That backfired though because xbox has shit the bed and Sony have missed their targets.

Some are saying GTA6 will be a massive system seller, but from what we've seen, even the biggest of blockbusters have sold shite on both Xbox and PS5, first and third party alike. Skipping PC is a real bad idea from R*

If people haven't bought an OG PS5, PS5 slim or PS5 after the price drop, there's no chance Sony are selling millions of PS5Pros before the holidays. They would need to drop the PS5 to £350 minimum to move the console.

I reckon GTA6 will be lucky to hit 10 million week 1, 20 million month 1 and then flatline.

Sony has decided to backtrack on the PSN account requirement to play Helldivers 2 on PC:

And even though the negative reviews played a part at this change of heart (?), it also goes to show how shitty Blizzard has gotten, since Overwatch 2 is still THE lowest rated game on Steam, and that game wasn't improved even with the low ratings.

This is a little bit surprising and a lot heartening.
It would be cool if this turned into a "spread the word" moment.. sadly it'll probably take more than this. A future streaming gaming push or something battshit like that.
