You'd think I would have learned my lesson by now, but I'm honestly taken aback by just how many NSFW/fetish panels are held at FWA compared to other big cons like AC and MFF (espcially the latter. I didn't see a ton of kink panels planned when I attended in December). Like yeah, this fandom is full of socially maladjusted degenerates and it's easy to laugh at all the dysgenic greaseballs in attendance with pube beards and pup hoods, but the fact that there is at least one meetup panel to my knowledge dedicated to younger furries is worrying.

Most of these adult panels are mercifully held at night but God help you if some of these kids manage to evade staff and stick around for them.

I reached out to a furry friend of mine who is attending FWA and asked if they knew what happened. This was their response:

I was in the atrium and I started noticing it getting really smoky. There was a smoky smell and I initially thought it was coming from the steakhouse. But it was producing way too much smoke.

Apparently, something caught fire in the bathroom. It was right at the start of the opening ceremonies, too. I don't know if they are going to evacuate or not but I came back to my hotel to de-suit just in case.

Last weekend, Garden State Fur the Weekend happened in New Jersey. It seemed like it went fairly well all things considered, even though there was some fucky stuff going on with the management behind the scenes. I wrote about it a while back in this thread.

As it would turn out, some people from Fox News showed up to GSFTW and filmed some footage that was used for the May 9th broadcast of Jesse Watters Primetime. If Jesse sounds familiar, that's because he recorded an infamous interview with Vitai Slade (now former owner of the furry action website The Dealer's Den) last June where Vitai nuked his career and reputation from orbit.

Anyways, here's a mirror of the segment. I apologize for the quality; it currently doesn't appear to be up on YouTube yet so I had to resort to someone else's screen recording. Enjoy some good old-fashioned furry cringe:

The furries in the GSFTW chat were pissed that a conservative news network interviewed everyone, but imo they did a fair enough job. I was interviewed and they asked what is a furry, what is your fursona, do you literally identify as a fox, what do you do for a living, who are you voting for etc. Not all of that made it on air, but there's only so much you can put into a 3 minute segment.

Now I'm just anxiously waiting to get cancelled on Twitter, because I was the fox in that clip that said "Trump 2024, baby"
