The reason your ideologues, your idealists, social revolutionaries, liberal arts people and faggots get purged is because, when Marxists-Leninists come into power, they want no more revolutions. Yea, when the factory worker comes home to his communist apartment, he just wants a hot stew and a cold beer, just another day of hard work, communist or capitalist only means as much as it impacts those basics. Its actually a really useful thing to recognize though - This isn't unique to communism, its a basic tenant of life that if you keep yourself busy working in grounded aspects of reality, the problems of the world seem far less problematic, and the rewards of it seem far richer. If your feeling perpetually stressed about this or that social woe, take up a hobby that involves doing shit with your hands for hours at a time. Sewing, electronics, woodworking, hiking, fishing, martial arts, anything of that sort, and you'll find the world to be a much more enjoyable place.

And much as the world has learned repeatedly, this works right up until the material conditions degrade enough that these hobbies can't be pursued, the stew runs thin and the beer runs out. Then whatever system exists will be burned down by these people, not the chattering fools in the art studio.
