I really think TLoU live action series kind of started a concerning trend in video game adaptation.
"The Normie Pleasers"
video games used to have a niche audience that was usually harder to please than the average mouth breather that is just living life in automatic pilot mode. That, however, has changed. Gaming became more mainstream and, consequently, normies became more involved. But normies are still normies so their enjoyment is rather superficial, they like the pretty colors, the "intense gameplay" and "engaging cutscenes". They dont care about the deeper introspect details of the experience, once its done, they nearly already forgot it even happened. Or buy merch, that too.
Where Im getting at is that video game adaptations have changed accordingly. They no longer need to try to please the niche core audience that may never be satisfied, all they gotta do is satisfy the normies that obviously wont be hard to please as all you need are things that look like the game JUST ENOUGH so they are happy. Sure, the niche audience will still be displeased but they "statistically" dont matter anymore, their hobby doesnt need them to stay alive anymore. All they gotta do is put Pascal as Joel so normies will say "OH LOOK, ITS THE MANDALORIAN" because he was in The Mandalorian, therefore, this is kind like The Mandalorian!
After witnessing the Fallout series and seeing what a normie pleasing circle jerk it was, it truly set on me that they arent trying to please us and failing anymore, they are trying to please normies and they are actually pulling it off.
Which leads to me seeing that there is a chance Part 2 will be much more well accepted among normies because they lack the deeper connection to the characters and setting. Some will be upset, sure, but they can handle those looses because they have the normie cattle mostly buying into their BS.
The future looks amazing.
Maybe thats a bit villanous but considering Ellie was ready to die "for humanity" (aka, just to give her life purpose), her just donating her eggs for science would be the safer alternative...I mean, lets face it, Ellie will never have children so its not like she would ever use those eggs.
But knowing the style of the writing, Ellie will somehow have an issue with it and say "thats wrong" as if to say her sacrificing herself is good but just donating a part of her she will never use for humanity's benefit is bad.
Im very sure this was one of the many reasons that made Joel snap and terminate them all. If I saw all of that and heard they were going to cut the head of a girl I was practically raising now to get some retarded 1 in a million chance for a cure, I too would go into a murderous dad rage rampage.
Im still waiting the classic God of War games being ported. Feels bad.

Eh, they're gonna just fuck it up since they're still employing Hollyweird writers and have fucking retarded people on staff that will find a way to sabotage success. Also I don't think that 2 would be liked simply because it's just a shit story no matter what; even if you don't care about the games, some roided up rando murking a main character and getting away with it will annoy even the most basic of casual, since that's shit writing 101.

The casting for Ellie just has me so confused.
She was downright cute in TLOU and despite an attempt to correct the male gaze with shitty tattoos and a perpetual sneer in TLOU2 she's still pretty attractive.
This lumpy goblin thing doesn't even remotely resemble either version of the character.
In fact the both the actresses for Dina and Abby look considerably more like the Ellie character than the actual actress that's playing her.
