Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

With anime becoming like Hollywood and getting remake crazy what series do you think should be remade? I call dibs on Haruhi Suzumiya. I'd love to see it back in present day.
#1, Hollywood getting its hands on the east should make you all shiver. #2, No one has learned Haruhi's most essential lesson - which is "moe does not work in real life".

Anime becoming like Hollywood is literally the worst case scenario, but as long as we're talking about it I'd like to see a remake of Key the Metal Idol.

Just not by Hollywood.

New Endless 8 film of 88 minutes!

More seriously, you need something Super Sentai level so the director doesn't shit it too much with special effects but it's still larger than life. Maybe Garou.

Record of Lodoss War, no question. How Kadokawa is still sitting on that IP while elf media is having a modern-day resurgence is beyond me.

They even commissioned an anniversary animation to commemorate the launch of a mobile game years ago, and it really made me salivate for the prospect of a brand new anime series that tackles more of the original novels, particularly a proper take on Spark and the Crystania storylines, and maybe even a proper version of Legend of Lodoss that would finally see the forgotten heroine Flaus in animation.

A Galvion remake that finishes the story, and restart the 4th J9 show and the Dendoh sequel. I really hope the Megazone reboot gets made and that they give Dangaioh a proper, satisfying ending once and for all.
I always forget they announced like three new Megazones and none of them have materialized. At least Decade used his position as the head of AIC to use the IRL Garland as his bike in that toku show he did a year or so back.

I still can't believe Inoue is the actual head of AIC. It seems like a shitpost episode of Kamen Rider Decade. Life imitates art, I guess.

Code Geass could really use a reboot that keeps it more grounded and includes a reworked R2. No more wannabe Gundams. No more japanese high school episodes. Keep Knightmares distinctly advanced ground vehicles with flight units being cost prohibitive to make. And for fucks sake let the Lancelot lose a fight for once or have some subplot about a "lancelot killer" weapon called the Maleagant (since they also use the names of other characters from those king arthur stories like Gawain). Would be a good arc to show suzaku gitting gud with the lancelot and earning the ability to turn the tide of any battle.

I just skip whatever scenes it shows up in now because its an annoying and overused deus ex machina that they literally palette swap in other spinoffs.

Didnt that have a successful crowd funding campaign? What happened to it?

I think the most refreshing part of the show, and how it is respectful, is it is devoid of most of the cringe coomer shit that seems to pervade most anime. Didn't feel the need to close my living room curtains.
If you felt the need to close your living room curtains for most anime then either you're extremely puritan or have been watching exclusively coomer shit.

Crest of the Stars. It's horribly under loved and it was left in a unfinished state. Best space battles I've ever seen in anime.

Sure, I'm a little puritan, but it's the big bouncing bosoms and ridiculous costumes shoehorned in for horny teens to the detriment of the immersion and characters that's annoying.

I get what you mean, but I also know Serie's feet were shown way too many times, always from a low-angle shot, and the camera focused on them directly. Someone at Madhouse is after the gross heart of Tarantino.

I firmly believe that the "expertise needed" to competently adapt higher echelon stuff like Lodoss is an endangered species at this point (and will only get worse with Japan's economic downfall). When basic promo-material for a show looks like an attempt at wowing the audience with something unique and visually stark, you're dealing with animators who are above the par.

Hey, anyone who is following the Delicious in Dungeon anime, could you help my retarded, autistic self? We're up to Episode 19 in my country, and I've been a bit confused regarding some character points re: Shuro, Liaos, and Falin.

It's probably clearer to someone who is following the manga and/or isn't socially retarded like myself, but I can't wrap my head around Shuro being in love with one of the "autistic" siblings- Falin- but intensely disliking the exact same traits in her brother. Maybe it becomes clearer with time in the manga, but it's not sitting right with me. Falin seems to be only slightly more socially adept than Laios, and is equally weird and obsessive. She also doesn't walk around in stripper gear so it's not even a fanservice thing.

I've been trying to find someone who's already addressed this, but without success. Plenty of ruminations over Laios and his possible autism, others defending Shuro, but nothing pointing out the contradictions in Shuro feelings towards each of the siblings.
Autism in women is cute. Autism in men is off putting. Simple as.

Literally the opposite of what a neighbor did: they had the door open so you could see their TV was right there in sight and they were watching Baki.

Just embrace the cringe, man. We have the curtains open during the day and a side window is facing my neighbor's other window. If I can see their cat lounging in the windowsill, I'm sure they've taken a peek at what was on our TV screen.

been reading a manga called Ikigami. the Japanese government infect its populace with a deadly nanomachine virus that the government triggers at random, which kills a person around 18-25 years of age after 24 hours. why are they doing it? to make people appreciate the lives they have been given and to stamp out any form of nihilism. society is literally 1984, where there are secret police narcing on anyone that dears rise questions about the system and sends people to "re-education" camps or in worst case, the government just torturers them to death.

its such a silly story but its interesting seeing people get the latter that they will die in 24 hours and see what they will do with the last hours of being alive.
