An Inflation Test Looms Over the Economy and the Election

Core C.P.I., which strips out volatile food and fuel prices, is expected to rise by 0.3 percent on a monthly basis — an improvement from the 0.4 percent monthly jumps seen in January, February and March.
On an annual basis, core C.P.I. is seen rising by 3.6 percent — an improvement on March’s 3.8 percent, but still well above the Fed’s 2 percent target.
So-called shelter inflation, which includes rents and housing costs, is still running hot. Any sign of easing is likely to influence the Fed’s outlook on interest rates

Nowhere is showing the inflation of food rent energy btw

Stubbornly High Rents Prevent Fed From Finishing Inflation Figh

Market rents—rents on newly signed leases—surged three years ago, reflecting the unusual demand for more space unleashed by the pandemic, strong income growth and historically low inventories of homes for rent or purchase. Single-family home rents rose 14% in 2022, according to CoreLogic

Not a single mention of the basics food , energy and rent
We excluded the essentials therefore no inflation

I propose an experiment. Have an AI impersonate a doctor. Group A has a caucasian sounding voice. While Group B has a black/latio/native sounding voice. Based on the race of the person. See if they would accept the results of whatever the doctor says. Have the AI being fed by a real doctor mind you. Not an AI feeding whatever it feels is the best answers
In theoretical conditions I wouldn't give a shit if my brain surgeon only spoke in Ebonics ("Naw wat we gunna do is saw de top of ye head off and root around here wide da stick an see if we find dat clot"). But in reality I'd be very concerned that he only got that job because he was the only black candidate to apply (and because he made a spelling error when applying for the janitor position)

The theory on Kamala is interesting, because she managed to get enough clout to be an entity in California. But now she's a total loser that nobody likes or is willing to stand up for?

It definitely makes sense, don't get me wrong, she's charismatic antimatter and also has somewhat visibly, publicly, failed to do anything useful except cackle and spit out retarded empty nothings in response to any sort of policy or plan on... literally anything. But it seemed like she had some kind of political capital in 2019-2020 that she used to get to the position she was in before VP, is it just that she is now so transparently useless that she can't fall back to California state politics? Was it one thing to pretend she was a good politician before, when nobody paid attention to her, but now it's just way easier to dump her? Or, perhaps, a bunch of people never liked her, and now they have the support they need to just ignore her?

I would guess something like that. It was easy to pretend she was decent when she was in CA and her only scrutiny was local DNC shills who could cover for her. Now that she has gotten out into the wild though it is impossible to control her publicity and ignore her massive problems, and if she is returned to CA other people will use it to try and pry her out.

And sell it to who? The right will ignore it because its by her, the left will ignore it because it slander their side, and the Chinese will ignore it because lucrative book deals is a reward.
tbf I'd probably at least pirate a copy and skim it

Dropping food/energy/rent from the metric referenced as "inflation" is probably one of the most blatant attempts to cook the books on government statistics since Obama dropped people who gave up on seeking full-time employment from unemployment statistics in 2009.

The have a "plausible" excuse that is abused to all hell.

The price of fuel can swing violently and hey avian flu did a number on eggs and shit.

Rent....no housing needs to be counted

Deflation is a dirty word because it makes people hold onto thier money and tanks demand.

Plus people with debt get hurt by Deflation while people with debt are helped by inflation

Does anyone remember when Tulsi Gabbard basically ended Kamala's career on the primary debate stage? Did that get memory holed?

The fact that Joe still picked her as a running mate after that just proves to me there's never been a coherent plan.
And there's the fact Kamala called Biden a racist and a rapist during the primary too.

Here's the thing, it's not actually a plausible excuse. Excluding volatile metrics from the CPI just ensures they are meaningless indicators of what they are designed to track. I get it, a jump in the price of gas or eggs could cause the numbers to look bad, and that hurts the people who are in charge. But it's the same principle as putting tape over your check engine light, then refusing to admit your car is running hot because if it was, the check engine light would be on. You're sacrificing accurate results over what makes you feel or look good. It's the same anti-scientific shit that's happening in colleges. I'm honestly more concerned that this type of logic is to entrenched to not cause a total societal collapse.

Did that get memory holed?
Certainly not by the Democrats, they booted her out of the party for that. Tulsi earned delegates, this earned her the right to speak at the Democratic National Convention. The DNC refused to allow her to attend.

Kamala was supposed to be their chosen one. They dubbed her Obama 2.0. That's why they put her on the ticket with Biden, they wanted to backdoor her in. Unfortunately, for them, she turned out to be an incompetent cackling idiot

Considering that we literally have judges declaring that the 2nd amendment do not exist in their courts, I think it's a matter that she was always horribly bad at her job but it would be considered racist and sexist to point that out. Even Biden's election staff would dismiss her criticisms as being derogatory and meaningless. When she was AG she may have had underlings that covered for her, but when she became VP they were unable to do so, and she became so hostile to her staff that they simply stopped bailing her out.

Arthur, Tyler, and Fillmore.

I promise I didn't look that up.
I kind of hope you did, because there's something less scary about you being a liar then the sort of person who would just know something like that! :D

Well if she can't make money with tell-all books when she leaves office, she can pick up voicing the Joker when Mark Hamill finally calls it quits - her laugh is terrifying.

That said, we have over half a year for Creepy Uncle Joe to get through without keeling over and I really don't think he's going to make it. His blood must be 90% stimulants by this point and I think his head is going to explode on TV like the dude in Scanners. President Kamala "Hyena" Harris is coming, I'm telling you.

Does anyone remember when Tulsi Gabbard basically ended Kamala's career on the primary debate stage?
Remember it? I still play it back sometimes when I need cheering up. Also after the same debate who was the White Witch candidate they had? I remember her saying after the debate "I had no idea people could be so mean" or words to that effect. People say they don't write good comedy anymore but that Primary really proves them wrong!
And there's the fact Kamala called Biden a racist and a rapist during the primary too.
Proving that she can actually tell the truth on rare occasions.

I kind of hope you did, because there's something less scary about you being a liar then the sort of person who would just know something like that!
It's not that scary, there's bound to be a handful of sneeders on this thread that have enough close connections to prominent US politicians that these things just come up in idle conversation.

Oh I understand that's what they're doing, and unlike with Obama changing the federal classification of an unemployment rate, that's been a common approach since at least the 1970's IIRC, it's just fundamentally dishonest to not list the volatile goods inflation rate alongside the general one if that's the oh-so-nuanced approach they want to take.
