The Final Fantasy Thread

I have a cool coked out theory about a new game coming out.

There's a title called Reynatis. Has nothing officially to do with Square enix. But it copy's Final Fantasy 13 Versus and endgame KH3's athestic quite a bit.

Get this. It has Kazushige Nojima has the writer and Yoko Shimomura doing the music. In addition they just showed a built in crossover with TWEWY after teasing it as an april fools joke.

Now I have no proof, but I have a suspicion the young aspiring director reached out to Nomura for his blessing in making a copy/inspiration of his work. And Nomura let him be a part of the alt universe lore he's teasing with KH and Versus in some small way. It's probably a self contained thing, but I like the idea of this being stealth marketing or consumer gauged interest in a Versus reboot.

Beat Rebirth last night. I'm not done with it yet since I plan on doing the post-game Gilgamesh stuff along with that last dumb "Can't Stop, Won't Stop" sidequest, but I liked the game overall.

I'm glad the one thing everyone seems to agree on is that there really are way too many minigames, and that the majority of them just aren't fun. I'd say the most enjoyable are chocobo racing and Queen's Blood while the ones that made me want to tear my hair out the most were Glide de Chocobo and Cactuar Crush. No fucking way am I getting the high score on all of those to complete the Treasure Trove, sorry Johnny.

I'm surprised and a little disappointed Zack didn't do more until the final chapter, his segments were so short and mundane. What I did like - and also wasn't expecting - was him having a Synergy ability with Cloud.

Was also disappointed they didn't play "You Can Hear the Cry of the Planet" in the Forgotten Capital; the new track they put there was good in its own way but just didn't have that same ominous vibe.

The final boss rush gauntlet was a bit much. Not overly challenging, but tedious, and they blew their load early with Bizarro Sephiroth. I do like how it splits the party up for each one and gives you free Limit Breaks though.

I didn't get all the confused complaints about the ending at first and thought Cloud just hallucinated saving Aerith, and that she was appearing to him afterwards via the lifestream. Didn't catch the "time fracturing" thing at all until I read an explanation.

Is the dog multiverse real or schitzo?
Late but yeah, that all checks out. I won't lie and say I understand the ending 100% (what's going on with Glenn?), but it is clearer to me now. Very much needlessly time-fucky though.

It looks like shit, ain't gonna lie. I hate ARPGs where they spam particle effects and you can't even do normal attacks without them. It's just a floaty mess without any real feedback or weight. What's the point of cool animations where literally everything you do is exaggerated?

I like particle effects. Games clearly on a budget so they make everything nice and flashy to compensate. not an issue for me.

Here's a bit more gameplay

Crossposting this from the Sony Sucks thread, and also crossposted into the Square Enix thread, but after the apparent failure of FFVII Rebirth to sell...anything, and also probably the failure of FFXVI, Square Enix have abandoned console exclusivity entirely in favor of multiplatform releases:
FF7 Rebirth is still selling like shit and it might barely meet FF16's week 1 sales after 3 months. What is Square Enix's response to this disaster? They are now dropping PS exclusivity and doing day 1 releases on all platforms now.

Sucks to suck Sony.

Sony deserves this. They fucked over Square Enix so damn hard. They rode with them on the failure of PS5 as one of the only exclusive studios that has a big name.

Sony fucked them by extending the PS4 lifespan.

Sony fucked them with their stupid ethics department ruining their advertising again.

It sounds like Sony fucked them with their contract and made Squeenix release solely on PS5.

And now? It sounds like they got fucked on the profit loss split.

Moral of the story: Don't treat your partners like shit.

Can you really blame Sony for it? It's not like SE only limited its censorship and degeneracy to Sony consoles. And SE's games are so lackluster that there were probably more PS5 games sold for a South Korean waifu game than FF16 and FF7: ReAbortion.

SE basically forgot how to make games that aren't glorified tech demos and/or a ripoff of other media.

I think Stellar Blade undersold the last two FF’s. Or sold less in its first few weeks. But maybe that was a troll I fell for.

I feel like Stellar Blade's sales will disappoint.
Anything sold exclusively on Playstation is going to have disappointing sales at this point. Its pretty much the death nail of your game. I can only imagine that the Korean devs didn't realize how dead Playstation was in Japan and how much more popular the Switch and PC gaming were in America. The censorship is like the cherry on top of the shit sundae.
