Warhammer: 40,000 - Rogue Trader - CRPG by Owlcat games

It is. The lack of reactivity towards any of your background choices was really disappointing.
You get a couple in the beginning if you roll navy ship captain but otherwise yeah

Oh I completely forgot to give my review on the game. 10 outta 10 story. Gameplay 7 outta 10

I get that it's Warhammer but I kinda would appreciate more opportunities to talk to people before I get into a fight for the 50th time.

They fixed the jank with the most recent patch on ps5. Before it had probably the most insane glitches i had ever experienced in a game. Still some bad decisions here and there, they screwed up the elfs personal quest to save her people by having it so you can miss one if you don't click on a pod that looks like every other pod before you get to the actual dude who can be saved.

Otherwise I really enjoyed my playthrough. I aimed for a good Paragon playthrough but my fierce anti chaos stance made me more dogmatic in the end. Surprisingly this was the best of both worlds.

I didn't get enough points for any of the morality tiers beyond 3 so I couldn't use the special endgame dialogue choices, but I ended up threading the needle and becoming the best possible leader for the system without rebelling against the imperium. It is entirely possible to purge the system of chaos if you play your cards right and turn over every nook and cranny.

Appreciate how you don't need to buy every factions junk beyond a basic level to get a good ending.

lol, Argenta no scoped Idira. I'm not even going to reload because she is such a dumb cunt. Making saving her be an iconoclast decision was a bit stupid, but I was playing a dogmatic psyker who totally isn't going to fall to chaos ever (maybe). She thought she could handle being a psyker but she couldn't. I wouldn't even take her on a heretic playthrough, honestly.

You let her die that’s sad. Idira’s dialog is great. She’s probably one of my favorite companions because of it. Watching her have a meltdown mid conversation because of the “voices” is always entertaining.

Started a melee heretical psyker just to see different content and feel more like an active participant in the early game. I'm actually surprised by some of the subtleties. The punishments you give are somewhat familiar to Dogmatic ones, but the point behind them is different, which is a really good way to showcase how one is doing reprehensible things for a good cause while the other is doing it for the sake of it. Having power over the warp is really fun. I made a daemon live inside my lance weapon, and that is just fucking hilarious to me.

on the other hand, i just got to comorragh and it has a really shitty start with some of the worst railroading i've ever experienced in a game, much less one by owlcat
for fuck's sake, i just melted two nigger eldar with my mind and body in absolute shit before patching myself up enough to still fry people with a parasite in my brain but i can't beat some deformed retard?

I commit the sin of double posting to report I've finished the game twice. Once as a dogmatic blaster psyker and another as a heretical melee psyker. I really like the game, save for the weird bugs and the really confusing companion paths. Becoming the equivalent of a living saint and outright being raised to daemon princedom was a nice touch. Plan to play again after a lot of things have been smoothed out.

Don't think I'll ever do an iconoclast/iconocuck run because that involves sparing the eldar in any way. Seriously, fuck those knife-ears. I don't care that a subsect of their people in a death cult revived Guilliman: they murder fucked a chaos god into existence and have the same better-than-though problem Tolkien's elves do. Yrilet betraying you and those uppity faggots on the jungle planet did away with the inkling of iconoclast run thoughts I had. Live by the sword and die by it. Don't cry when you lose or try to act superior in defeat. I find it hilarious how both the zealot and heretical voice despise xenos.

A neutral run could be worth it. The "glorious" and other reflections of you were an interesting touch. I can still commit xenocide in that at least. Plus, I really want to use ranged weapons. Melee and psyker powers are super fun but samey. Ghost Helm is utterly fucking broken but I loved it. Trouble is sanctioned psyker really seems to be the best origin because free scaling buff while the others may as well not exist past the prologue of all things. I don't need to metagame, but I hate that little voice in my head filled with disappointment.

I steadfastly maintain that Owlcat could have 1:1 duplicated the FFG RPG and it would still have been better than the mess of perks and skill trees in the game currently.

Have they carried out more bugfixes to fix the softlocks in the game?

I was playing meme commissar and picked every execution option and gotten softlocked when trying to leave commorragh.(the worst section imo)

Also its funny to have heinrix with you as a heretical character flat out stating that you are a heretic to heretics and going "Hey that's kinda sus bro"

The DLC is supposed to flesh out your void ship. The companion is a Death Cult assassin.

I'll probably do what I did with WotR and wait until they're fully done releasing DLC and major updates for the game before I replay it. I could never replay games constantly, especially in a short period of time.
