This whole situation pisses me off, because this would have possibly been the way to tell Nintendo to stop making brain dead baby games and give people more of what they actually want. But now it has the poison pill of "accurate" translations (for a certain definition of accurate) that pander pointlessly to satisfy 3% of the population and the 10% that simp for them. It's not even the biggest issue, though. Script or not, that's something you can at least change with mods to not be shit. The remix music is sterilized, losing a lot of its "far-out" qualities and feeling more like regular ass music at best and mockeries of the craft at worst. A remake/remaster should lean into what they already have and make it better. I doubt whoever is responsible for it has the talent for it. And then to top it off, the props and background elements have been "paperized", becoming more simplistic and cheap looking instead of upgrading them to look more detailed. That's shit that takes a lot of work to undo and then won't even be worth it anyway.

Notice how all it takes from the developers seat is a single change in dialogue to make tens of thousands of people advertise your game, free of charge and better than any 15 second youtube ad. Nintendo knows their audience, so did the Guilty Gear creators when they changed the Bridget character's lore. This will be a thing in video games for a while and is not worth getting angry about.

This is the correct path of thought. Online backlash has never got a developer to reverse course in the way some people are expecting here. Sony backed off forcing PSN accounts to play Hellriders because they already had numbers in front of them showing how much of their player base they stood to lose. Fortune 500 companies don’t consider hypotheticals.
