My project to use 24/7 outdoor music broadcast to repel urban hoodlums - don't let your memes stay dreams

an absolute tragedy. RIP to those legends.
those fuckers probably think its gone forever.
they'll get a good susprise when that 20 watt speaker set goes full blast.
cant wait to hear the stories of them losing it because they instead made their problem worse.
also if you can, when the install is finished, play Nigger Nigger by Johnny Rebel on repeat if you can. it'd be the ultimate troll song once its back up and running.

I replaced the damaged speakers with 2 pairs of new Logitech 10 watt speakers, for a total output of 20 watts. I enclosed the whole bundle with 2 protective metal baskets for cages, but I went for strength over stealth, so it's pretty unsightly

The new setup is definitely louder than before.

The hoodrats were very emboldened by their 48 hour respite from the music, so here you can see their numbers have multiplied. Also they are sharing a whole watermelon like something out of a bad meme.

These photos are from maybe 30 minutes after the music broadcast was restored.

The attached video is from a few hours later, so it's possible they were dispersed by the music.

They are still listening to "Thoroughly Modern Millie" on loop. I'm beginning to grow weary of that song myself, so I may change it later this week.

To prepare for installing more broadcast units to achieve full coverage, I bought another 3.5mm audio splitter and another pair of desktop speakers, this one being 16 watts, so if I doubled it with an identical pair, it could be 32 watts total. It's got a spherical shape, which is really different from the rectangular box speakers I've been using for this project, so I will need to figure out a new way to suspend and support these spherical speakers.

Fortunately I was able to salvage one pair from the damaged 6 watt speakers by combining the working elements from both. I'm going to use this salvaged pair for the next broadcast unit I install, maybe combine it with the new spherical speakers.

You gotta teach these kids about nutrition. It'd be a public service.
(the Fluffernutter jingle, a 32 second masterwork)

I had a CD of old ad jingles once and it was chock full of perky tunes, all of them very short and designed specifically to become earworms. That would be interesting to try. If you picked products that are still in production the advertising might even work, like a nuclear orphan source being found a hundred years later and still killing the scavengers who opened its casing.

file didn't upload properly but i want to watch this for a laugh.

Unironically i think my dad might like this, i'll send it over to him lmao. he likes that sort of shit.
If your old man like P.A.L i can recommend a few more modern industrial artists i'll send you a message later not to shit up this thread.

I remember seeing this thread like 4 years ago and thinking it was the funniest shit ever.

Godspeed and keep up the good work.

Here’s a Hurdy-Gurdy song. Should work reasonably well against people not of European ancestry.

Here’s, ironically, a black man playing Vivaldi on a harpsichord.

never seen something so stereotypical

do they watch you installing the speakers/cage?
There were only 2-3 blacks watching at the tail end of the cage install. I feel that it's pretty vandal resistant now due to the amount of material and the strength of the steel wire anchoring and knotwork, even if they saw how it was put together.

How about coring out an old A/C wall unit and using that for a broadcast system housing? Should work pretty well for both protection and stealth factor.

Speaking of protection, how does a set of desktop speakers handle the elements? Wouldn't rain and such be an issue, or does the building itself keep them sheltered?

I suggest finding a copy of the Hanna Barberra sound effects CD that came out a decade or so back.
50 minutes of SPLAT BANG Room A Zoom Zoom! with no rhyme or reason should have the desired effect.

Actual outdoor grade PA speakers have gotten much cheaper than they used to be.
This is one of the cheapest I have found

Cheap PA Horn

If you buy more they get cheaper
A Bunch of Cheap PA Horns

These are bout the same price each but they are a larger and higher wattage speaker.

What you are doing now seems to work but you might try the PA horns in the future.
You would need to come up with an amp for them.
I would recommend hiding the amp inside and running wires to the horns.

Congrats on returning civilization to your own corner!
Way to "be the change".
Yes You Can!
This probably isn't what 0bama had in mind when he said that but oh well.

I have to ask how the fuck, did you get that up the wall? my partner said the wall looked in the back area looked looked library. Overall very impressed, i just wanna see the reaction for Converter being played.
