I love the rpg mechanics but it'd just love the monkey's paw of everyone getting their TTYD remake they've probably been asking for years and some dialogue change that these people so badly wanted back in the game ends up causing nintendo to never touch it again
with how cursed this series is that'd be the ultimate irony

Media conversations about video games are so schizo, I love it. Do they cause violence? Do they cause laziness? Do they cause obesity? Do they cause kiling sprees due to training kids with guns? This is made funnier by the fact that a lot of people calling this out would be calling it out if it was translated correctly and made crystal clear it was a fem boy. Because that, to them, is the same as Trans. And they never played the original so they don’t know or care really about nuaunce.

I just love Nintendo’s dilemma, they know that the original paper Mario and ttyd were gold but lack the touch to do it again. They tried continuing the series with sticker star and failed, I even think that super paper Mario was a bit naff. Here they are trying to follow the same recipe, "remastering" ttyd with minimal changes and it’s still not working out. Poor guys are probably pulling their hair out in frustration.

Japan loves its femboy trope, but considering the tumultuous state of the nightmare fad that is chemically castrating children, I'm shocked Nintendo let this slide. Part of me is willing to wager they patch it out first week post-controversy. I guess it comes down to who's more vocal about it on Xitter and how the translators respond to said controversy. Should be interesting.
