Feedback Technical Grievances

Is it possible to disable/hide chat from the main page? I didn´t see a way now to do that, like with the previous one, but it would be appreciated.
 
It isn't listed there but i miss the sound chat made whenever someone @ me, it was useful to not ignore people while in another tab or something.

Edit: also the ability to delete messages at the very least.

Seeing each and every thread reply on the site is annoying.

Good news about the new chat is that I no longer crash it whenever I use a different tab so thats gud.

Good start, I like it. I think it could stand to be a bit smaller. I don't know if its my resolution, but the new chat box is too tall to fit on my screen. Also, I don't think the list of active users needs to be so large, if its even needed at all.
 
I just had my first tab crash but I think it had to do with hours of chat messages not being pruned + the highlighting.
 
Chat is much slower/sort of laggy (assuming it's a WIP), the huge vertical layout is unsightly, and where did the emojis/file uploading options go? Other than that, I'm glad to hear about the changes.
 
The old version would lag horrendously upon main page load for me and would usually end up freezing that tab. I'd have to navigate from another page most of the time. The current one isn't as laggy, but taking up unnecessary space for someone who doesn't use it. Can we get a way to hide it if there isn't already?
 
The chat box is huge on mobile. Not sure if it's a good thing or a bad yet.
 
Good thing. It keeps scrolling down the page when I click in the chat box when I'm scrolling which is great. It doesn't get in the way at all.

It makes it hard to scroll back up because the chat box fills the screen but it's honestly a non issue because there aren't many reasons to scroll down below the chat box then scroll back up to the top.
 
Remember to back it up so you don't lose it to the goddamn French again, Nol.
 
You can send messages that are just spoilers so blank messages also the post button doesn't have enough padding and that triggers me
 
Any chance we could get an IRC style trivia bot? I used to love those things. Like I dont already waste enough of my time here.

edit: Also, its only a minor annoyance, but on chrome, if you move the cursor over a link, the address shows up at the bottom and obscures the enter message box thing. Other than that new chat is all good.

Though this new chat is lacking in features, it doesn't crash when I tab out so it's already 100x better.
 
There aren't hyperlinks when people post links in chat, meaning you have to copy-paste the text into a new tab :oops:

But ya still 50x better than the other mod
