I do want to bring attention to this again. When Nick sperged prior to the Appeal Copestream, it was when people called out his trust fund. There was a small tangent about his grandfather and his grandfathers uncle. The entire 2nd half of the video is him detailing how he chose to be a lawyer and in retrospect it’s incredibly manipulative.
I think Nick did it to get into his Grandfather’s graces if the story is real. Otherwise it’s rehersed to butter up the older boomer lawyers who would stream with him. That’s the only think Nick has in common with Saul Goodman, Nick could mold his persona to certain individuals.
I’d argue he first did this to Dad then his Grandfather and then everyone else. He’s not Patrick Bateman, but he created a mask to hide himself. I think it’s why people like Megan Fox, Joe/ Good Logic, and Kurt (although Kurt is just a fucking loser with no friends) are defending him. They got sold on an idea, Megan and Joe a Conservative family man and Kurt his ideal.
@Balldo's Gate can correct me, but Nick did this with Kayla. He pretended to be a gay best friend to get close to her and then get into a relationship on the rebound. I’d argue his Sunday school teacher bit was part of this mask. Kayla purged him of his sins of homosexuality to her family, maybe even their Church.
I think he also has a completely transactional view of relationships. He was the rich loser who everyone mooched off of. Drex back then and now used him (Drex had a side gig podcast prior to the Groomer story). It’s why he doesn’t burn bridges, it’s part of the mask. Something Sean said made it click with me “Nick couldn’t be a drug dealer, I’d just rob him if I was buying”. He has the appearance of generosity. He viewed
@Null saying stop drinking as extortion (a joke possible in reference to Byuu) and I think he was deep enough into alcoholism to be serious.
