So I'm interested in the question, what can we infer about the situation from his behavior since the arrest? The way I see it, he has three options for how to publicly handle the situation:
- Deny everything, 100%. Maintain complete innocence, loudly, aggressively, defiantly, to the arresting officers, and whomever. “This is all a big misunderstanding and when the facts are all in, I’ll be vindicated.”
- Repent. Admit fault. Level with your fans and friends, admit you have an issue, say you fucked up, and promise to do better.
- Say nothing, maybe even DFE. At most, tell your locals and other platform fans that you’re done online till further notice. At most, thank them (if they’re giving you money). And peace out.
So far, he’s going with option 1. And the question then is, why? Before answering, we should establish the possibilities of the situation on the ground:
- He really is innocent, and this is all a great big misunderstanding. Maybe April, Aaron, the cops, the pastor, the kids, or all of the above trashed the house, planted the drugs in his room, took the guns out, and all the rest. However it happened, Nick is innocent.
- He's guilty and basically all the facts in the police report are true, legit, not misleading.
Now with this framework, we can do some hypothesizing. Right away, I think it's worth saying that under neither circumstance does it seem to be wise to pick option 2 as a response. If he came out and just confirmed all the facts in the police report, he'd lose any hope of a not guilty verdict (right?). It might be what his friends and those close to him want to hear, since it would be the first step towards redemption and repentance and getting help and turning his life around, or whatever, but it would almost certainly torpedo his case.
I submit the best possible combination is 3 and 1. He really is innocent, and he is entirely silent throughout the process. His life
will be ruined by a guilty verdict, so he has to do everything in his power to maintain his innocence, and that means letting ONLY his lawyer speak for him in any capacity. Shut the fuck up, completely, say nothing, admit nothing, and let your lawyer do the work. But he's not doing that. Why?
Well, if he's innocent, he might just think that a loud, vigorous, defiant, and public self-defense is the best way to maintain his innocence going forward, so 1 and 1. Or, even if he agrees that it would be better to keep silent, there's an external reason to loudly maintain his innocence whenever addressing the issue (e.g., he needs the money, can't afford to stop streaming, wants to just get back to his life, etc.). I find this hard to believe. I just can't see a good reason for him to be so obnoxious and defiant if he were actually innocent. If the facts are on your side, they'll speak eventually. You don't have to.
The most likely combination, I think, is that he is indeed guilty---his house was a disgusting drug den full of coke, booze, guns, and children in crisis---and he is loudly maintaining his innocence as part of his quasi-legal strategy.
He plans to outsmart the system and has a high degree of confidence that he'll pull it off because he is a delusional addict. Maybe there was an issue with the warrant or the police behavior during the encounter; maybe he'll say that the drugs were Kayla's, or the kids', or he (or his lawyer) will pull some super jiu jitsu lawyering to beat the charges on a technicality. (He'll probably get the judge Fischer to recuse herself.) Or whatever. I highly doubt that he
does have an ace up his sleve that will exonerate him, but I 100% believe that he thinks he does.
I predict he will treat this case as he does any other that he has discussed on his channel since at least the Vic case: smugly thinking he knows the outcome, while feigning "I could be wrong! There's people involved so you never know!" He certainly thinks he knows better than anyone how to get the facts the court and the wider world see to come out in his favor. And even if it doesn't, I think the worst case scenario is a slap on the wrist. People rooting for total rekieta death are just delusional.
