IMO, two reasons. First, having a wife and kids would boost his legitimacy as a not-gay tradcath "thought leader" and political candidate (lol). Second, he doesn't really believe in heaven (or at least, doesn't believe he'll go there) so he's obsessed with having kids to secure a type of continued existence after he dies, even though logically he knows he would hate being a husband and father.

The part about needing Ambien to get through the wedding was really grim. Like, at least have the courage to be sober when you assent to your sham marriage...

yeah, "social status" (numbers on a screen) seems to short-circuit lots of womens brains. Look at Destiny, extremely goofy looking spaz with the body of a malnourished 8=year-old but he's got lots of subs/followers/etc so he's able to get lots of women who would be considered out of his league in any normal context like his ex-wife or even lauren southern who cheated on her husband with him.

I must disagree. Nick is not famous enough to pull e-fans like Destiny (and I'd argue Styx). He's not edgy enough to attract hybristophiliacs (maybe if he makes true on his hatred of women/the poors and actually assaults or kills one). He's a terminal shut-in and doesn't have hobbies like Styx (the occult, gardening, editing, degenerate sex, drugs).
