The reason for governance of the nature you describe is to prevent selfish behavior from harming the rest of the public.
The drug laws weren't enforceable unless the addicts were shitting up the public and making themselves a nuisance, at which point probable cause turns up the drugs as the reason why, and then sentencing enhancements kick in for very good reason.

Call me a pedant if you want for going in hard on this, but the reasons for laws matter if you want to have effective, functional, and most importantly minarchist government.

Lolberts are right about killing yourself with opiates, but the moment that impacts someone else like your kids or neighbors, the shithammer needs to come down hard (and for me, I'm fine with east asian type death penalties for drug related offenses once they cross that line. I don’t wholly disagree, but I was using that more as an example to be honest. The government shouldn’t be telling you what you can do with you alone… but there’s the unfortunate fact that destructive behaviors don’t always end with the one doing them. So I think we’re mostly in agreement, to be honest, you just expanded a touch more and rephrased it.
