I actually enjoy DSP being a low stakes lolcow. To me the fact no kids are getting hurt, no one that matters is suffering makes it a light hearted thread to read compared to the other ones I follow.

While a lot of people get genuinely MATI at Phil, my sense is a lot of those folks left after Null's blowup earlier this year. For me, DSP is like comfort food - predictable and admittedly a bit bland but enjoyable. And I know I've seen other users on here in the past compare him to a palate-cleanser (to continue the robust DSP-style food analogies) that they can go back to after digging into other, more volatile lolcows.

100%. Phil is the old reliable of lolcows. Extremely predictable, not super over the top funny but has his great moments like his recent "LICK THE SHIT OUT OF MY ASS" meltdown.

I did some catch up to the whole indie begathon and just wanted to point out for the record the way he played stardew, just disrespecting his dents and just wasting everyone's time.

For those of you who haven't played the game the first few days are basically a hidden tutorial and phil managed to fail at everything the game tries to teach you:

-On the first day you get an intro cutscene and you're given farming tools and seeds to plant, somehow phil refuses to plant anything and just spends the whole day cutting grass and trees.

-On the second day you get a mail that hints you to get to the beach to receive a fishing rod, Phil once again just complaints about getting mails in the game, then fucks around in the town until he stumbles into the saloon that has an arcade machine, he then procedes to spend all day playing the arcade and almost doesn't make it home. He still hasn't planted anything and the seeds are sitting in his inventory in plain sight the whole time.

-On the third day, the game is hardcoded to give you rain so usually it's a day you spend fishing and meeting all the villagers. Phil just spends it aimlessly running around until a dent points him to the beach, he then procedes to fish (with a full inventory cause inventory managment is for morrons). He then doesn't look at the extremely clear indication on how to fish and stumble around on the first fish (you can't fail it but if it was possible he would have failed it). He manages to catch a fish and then complains his inventory is full he throws away some precious crafting materials for just a few merely fishes. After that we get more fucking around and him complaining about the game. He still hasn't planted anything (despite the seeds being on the screen the whole time) or did anything farming related in this farm game.

It's just fantastic how little did he do and how smug he was about the game being " the kind of game you can invest some time in, and can actually learn to enjoy".

Zero fucks were given the game was being put back on the cemetery that is his steam library from the start. I would have loved seeing him being all awkward at the relationship events and siding with the big corpo vs the farming town (we all know he would have chosen joja)

I don't know about that. His speeches about how the people who don't like him can disappear and the world would be a better place without them are troubling. Add his sociopathic tendencies (lack of empathy and enjoyment when others get hurt) and it can create a very volatile combination. Especially if he develops some sort of mental condition which increases his delusions. The guy is a coward, which is probably his greatest/most useful trait, but who knows what the future holds. He might explode all of a sudden and actually try to hurt someone physically.

Phil confronting or attacking someone is out of the question. The man can't even have a phone call with other people without having an anxiety attack. During his interview with Keem he nodded his head like a bitch and said nothing to him then immediately afterwards talked shit. He's a massive pussy and coward to the core. A tough guy online but a pussy irl. He's never been in a fight in his life.

For me watching is like watching something he's very similar to and that's those scumbag tv preachers everyone knows is a fake and fraud except the retards who keep supporting they're the fascinating ones. Obviously the gap in his play is the half a millisecond of delay it takes to move the stick from forward to backwards to block 3 frame jabs. I think we all know that Phil would 100% be top tier if he bought a hitbox.

I always thought of it as Phil being the guy you'd learn about in Lolcow 101. He has all the trademarks of a lolcow but in a safe, consistent, and easily digestible package. You don't need somebody to watch a five hour documentary to explain why you should point and laugh at him just turn on the stream and you get it.

I'll tell you what, he's going to be bragging up and down for getting the characters he already got to master on PS5 to master on PC, proving that he's "still got it" and that the "idiots are mad that I am good at Street Fighter again." Just ignore the fact that he can't even escape the 1.4k-1.5k MR range even with his main Blanka, and anyone under 1.5k MR is a below average player according to stats and with his other characters he couldn't even escape the 1.3k-1.4k MR range which is really below average.

Just like on Monday's stream he lost more often than he won but he was fake pahsitive the entire time, I believe Poem's theory on Twitter that he's doing it to get ahead on the Joon documentary, so he can jerk himself off over how he changed and machoored and how he's not that guy anymore, he's just The Guy!

Yeah I am fully in with the damage control vs Joon doc, I still think he thought Joon would get him to approve the final copy. Joon ofcourse said no fuck off and Phil panicked internally. I didn't misrepresent the argument at all. The respectability of how you spend your money is at least somewhat determined by your life situation. For example, who cares if a bachelor goes on a meth and whore spree? But if he has kids and as a result of his lifestyle they're endangered and neglected, it becomes a lot less respectable.

Phil whaling away on gacha is meaningless when placed beside Nick's situation. The fact I even have to point this out is hilarious.

But in terms of the negative influence he exerts in so many areas from game design to drama among his fans and detractors and generally being a microcosm of everything wrong in modern gaming he's unparalleled.
