Lack of food and clean clothes I can get, but why haven't they been taking showers? I don't know if the McMansion is big enough for each kid to have their own room, but if not, just imagine the smell in those rooms if even bystanders were able to take notice. Unless Rekieta household literally does not have running water in their home, there really isn't any explanation why even the younger children couldn't take a shower/bath. We're not dealing with barn animals here, even if the fridge and the closet are empty the showers would still be a priority past a certain point, if only so that the other kids don't have to deal with the BO...unless something else we don't know about was going on.
