With this kind of blood glucose readings, the abject heat and a visa-run less than six weeks away, I believe more and more than Chantal will be Canada bound sooner than later. She cannot afford the medical care that she needs in Kuwait.
But she also can't afford to live in Canada while waiting to get access to the medical care she needs. There's ER visits, but those will just prop her up for a little while longer. She will probably die without ever having seen a specialist.
But then again, given her long history of noncompliance, specialist care would be completely wasted on her. She can't even do the basics to better manage her BG levels through diet, or stay on her meds; what can an endocrinologist or a diabetes educator do for her when she consistently goes against the existing advice that is available to her?
This is a woman who has convinced herself that she can eat massive quantities of rice and flatbread, and wash it down with fruit juice or full-sugar soda, and when well-meaning viewers beg her to stop doing it she gets rude, says she knows her own body better than they do, and blocks them.
So if she went back to Canada, she'd be stuck spending long, empty days in her dying Kia, before going home every night to a place where she's not wanted (at least not by anybody but Shmee), and where all the food she craves is too expensive. She can't afford an apartment. She also can't stand living alone, but Peetz, much as he hates his current living situation, seems to have told her they aren't going to be roomies again.
She's really fucked. She has no viable options.
Best-case scenario is that she at least makes things easier on her mom by dying in Canada. But this is Chantal, so the odds are in favor of her dying in Kuwait and being buried there.
Note in blue pen to the side says "pt stopped medicine" and "[something] one week."
That's what I thought. It's the bit under it I can't quite make out-- "[something] one week." She reported to the doctor or nurse that she stopped medication, so I suppose they recorded that on the printout as part of the narrative.
I read it as "sick one week," given that she says right after showing this that she'd stopped taking her meds while she was sick. Which, of course, begs the question, "Why the fuck didn't you get right back on them as soon as you were able?"
I think she stopped taking the metformin well before her recent "illness," because she says in this video that she doesn't like the GI effects of it, and Chantal, typical of deathfats, can't tolerate any discomfort that she hasn't inflicted upon herself (and that gets in the way of servicing her addiction).
