Fuck, the last time I saw Gummo was years ago. I watched Napoleon Dynamite a couple weeks ago, and now that I think about it the two movies represent the fork in Cobra's road. Unfortunately, I think he took the Gummo path long ago.

I rewatched Gothic King Cobra a couple of days ago since the last time I watched it in full was in 2019 and I knew nothing about Josh then. It’s been said before but it’s really harrowing to watch the documentary now because of how much more coherent Josh used to be. I think Josh’s current state really recontextualizes the documentary from a slice of life about an Internet eccentric to a harrowing time capsule from before his life went downhill. I do think that this has made the documentary more impactful for me and has made it my favorite documentary ever.
