Damn I was expecting something seriously gross in those ads given the poster's revulsion and Amy Schumer in the thumbnail.

But no there's absolutely nothing wrong with them. They're not vulgar. They're informative. They're completely fine.
Amy Schumer is public knowledge.

That's revolting.

Strongly recommend if you all haven't seen yet:
I'll take a look when I get the chance (I'm guessing it has something along the lines of alienation, atomisation and the commodification of human relationships?), but Japan in some aspects kinda looks like a preview of things to come. This loneliness epidemic in Japan, is such that women are buying services that usually are associated with dudes near the bottom of the social ladder, and a few are selling dey ass to pay for these services is.....concerning. And I wonder if this going to emerge over here, maybe not the host thing but just general widespread isolation and loneliness.

I wonder why they havent made 2+2 and decided to break those social conventions that make them so miserable.

Its time I start a proper skincare routine again 🙃 this time without the corporate propaganda where I bought a bunch of useless products and did a bunch of unnecessary steps.

Whats a simple, fast skincare routine? And what are the best products for such? Especially for someone who struggles with allergies. Woke up and my face was swollen. I love and hate this weather.

Fastest routine possible (imo) is the ol "gentle soap in shower, lotion immediately after". If you don't wear makeup, and depending on the combo, it can be amazingly effective.

Double cleanse method. Oil based cleanser (hadolabo) + water based cleanser (cerave foaming), rinse with cold water, apply moisturizer. For moisturizer I use klairs midnight blue calming cream. every two days before bed and before I apply moisturizer, I wipe my face down with Paula’s choice bha exfoliant with a cotton pad. For day time after a double cleanse wash, use a 50+ spf sunscreen for your face, I personally like cosrx. Avoid this product if you’re sensitive to scents.

Edit: to clarify I have oily/combo skin and therefore can tank more astringent cleaning methods. If your skin is dry, this method may not be the best fit for you.

Strongest components in my opinion are tretinoin/retinol (anti-aging), sunscreen (anti-aging), and moisturiser with HLA. The retinol will speed up your skin cell replacement rate and make you more sensitive to sunlight, so you’ll also want to exfoliate, and never ever go outside during the day. 🧛‍♀️
Retinol and HLA you’d apply after a shower and preferably in the evening since they’ll tend to make your skin glossy (but you can also add something like a matte primer to hide that), sunscreen you’ll apply every single morning no matter what, and then reapply after a few hours of direct sunlight if you’ve been outside a lot. Exfoliating you’d do two or three times a week, basically as often as you need to.

A vitamin D deficiency can lead to red, splotchy, inflamed skin. Do go outside if you can, just be sure to bring your sunscreen and to REAPPLY it. If you really can't go outside, at least be sure to supplement with some vitamins.

Stress, poor diet, and lack of exercise can wreak havoc on your skin just as much as a poor skincare routine.

I think it's probably deeper than just social conventions, there's probably material and economic causes as well. Otherwise we wouldn't have OnlyFans (among many other parasocial social media and services) gaining massive popularity in the west. It is still wild to me that such an "otaku" thing has become mainstream because as one anon remarked that it's way too much money being made from just a few lonely nerds/otakus, there has to be a ton of normalfags (who don't know how to steal from the internet) putting money into it. (Or it could be a money laundering operation. Or both.)

The previous poster is right that it's heavily driven by social atomisation and loneliness but the reason that I think it developed there in the first place and won't move over here at least 1:1 is because Japan still expects women to stop working once they get married, even though they are put under insane amounts of pressure to do well in their careers before that. If you have a host 'boyfriend' they're not pressuring you to get married because they'd have to leave the host game too, in particular it's really common for hosts to praise your work ethic and career success (also so they can know how much money you have to spend on them) but a real boyfriend is going to not care because he knows you'll give it up soon. Expectations for Japanese relationships are refusing to change to acknowledge that women work and want to work now - not that different to some western men.

edit: To the above poster, most people don't know OF is a pyramid scheme and you earn a percentage of the profits from the women who joined after you, referred by you. Most of the money being made is from that, not people actually buying the porn. It's like all MLMs.

What would be the best product to buy? In terms of Ret, HLA, and exfoliation.

There’s no such thing. People have different skin, different activities, and different allergies. If allergies are a common problem when you buy makeup it will be for skincare as well. Nothing to it but to try different products until you find one that doesn’t trigger you. Like I reacted very negatively to several retinol creams, but tretinoin (which is actually more intensive) works just fine. Even if you try a retinol and you find it makes your skin worse (but not in the allergy kind of way), you should try to stick with it for a while anyway, there’s an adjustment period and everyone looks bad when they first start it. If it doesn’t get better (or it triggers your allergies) you try another one, or get a tretinoin prescription like I did (tell a web doctor you need it to treat acne). Sunscreen I’d recommend SPF50, and specifically preferring Asian brands. Asian beauty standards prefer pale skin, so their sunscreens are much more effective than western ones, which often try to let a little light through to let the skin tan, which goes against the whole point of sunscreen as well as tans just being generally unsightly.

I think my girlfriend is taking things too fast. She keeps talking about settling down and having babies even though we've only been together a few weeks. It's like every conversation finds its way there and it's more than a little weird. Is there a way to get her to calm down on the subject without it sounding like I'm telling her to shut up?
