Nope. Wrong. A commercial round labeled as .223 can only be as hot as the specifications allow. 5.56 NATO is a "hotter" round. Bullet weight and design plays a factor in what is better for taking down larger game. Reloading is a different story.
5.56 NATO can be fired from a rifle chambered as .223. Done it many times without worry. I wager that no .223 made in the last two+ decades isn't designed knowing 5.56 NATO could and will likely end up in the chamber. Just from a product liability standpoint nobody would dare sell it. There are reloaders that make much hotter .223 rounds for hunting. Exceeding the standard amount of powder to far exceed 3000 FPS -sometimes pushing 3200+. They aren't blowing up their chambers.
