Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

Perhaps sometimes it's just my optimism trying to see the best in people. That's not to say I like fuckcars/urbanists, because I very much don't. In many ways I sort of see some of them as the quote "the road to Hell is paved with good intentions". I believe for at least some of the younger ones who don't have much life experience, they've been sold a lie by leftist grifters under the guise that they really do think the sky is falling.

The annoying bit is while they spout some pretty stupid stuff, some of the underlaying ideas aren't bad, getting retards who can't spend 5 mins driving without playing on their phone onto other transport is a good idea, demanding everyone be banned from private transport is just fucking stupid.

I see them like Uni/College Students who get into politics for the first time, they think they know more than they do and so are zealots about it, the problem is a bunch are old enough they should fucking know better, or at least have the basic understanding that they don't have the whole picture from one dickhead on YT.

Also why the smug whining in their posts while being obviously ineffectual losers most of the time is fun to read and mock lol

This is probably one of the most immature disingenuous takes they've come up with so far. I've never once tried to imply any of them as being malevolent simply for the sake of being malevolent. Even when they advocate for vandalizing other people's property I could see their misguided motivations. It's a very short sighted and juvenile way of thinking to believe someone else's beliefs are only for the sole purpose of being antithetical to your own.

The whole subreddit is full of immature disingenuous takes. Just the very idea of an $80k top-of-the-line pickup truck as a suburban commuter vehicle is a strawman argument.

They're also the ones who will try to think of ridiculous "non-car solutions" for bulky items, like using multiple bicycles to carry lumber, or taking a mattress on a train, rather than just admitting to get it delivered like everything else.

As for being actively malicious, I'm pretty sure Marohn and Jason are smart enough to realize that they're peddling bullshit.

/r/fuckcars finally discovered that trucks have cameras that give them amazing front visibility:

Tradesmen are overpaid because they can afford trucks:

They prove themselves to be absolutely retarded and ignorant of laws and show that none of them have licenses. Rearview cameras have been a federal mandate in all new cars since around 2018, so all MY 2019 cars have them - even small ones like the ND Miata. Many manufacturers have been installing 360 degree cameras so you get that cool bird's eye view vision when parking in tight spaces as an additional luxury for a small cost. Front view cameras are simply a part of that 360 degree feature.

I've seen some, and I think they're more intended for moving bulk quantities of food between warehouses/processing centers than to bring in food for grocery stores.
Railroads used to deliver to surprisingly small customers, and also had their own trucking departments for handling less than carload (LCL) freight. They don't anymore because they hate switching maneuvers (takes time and requires them to pay employees). Can't powerlevel but you'd be amazed at how hard it is for even multimillion-dollar businesses to deal with railroads now.

Who tf do they think is going to show up if they get a slab leak? Or a power outage? Or if they need some handyman work done? A dude in a pickup. (Ok maybe not the slab leak but you get my point) They are emasculated little bitch babies.
That's probably one of the appeals of why they want to live in a commie block. Someone else handles everything and they can turn off their brains and go back to mindlessly consuming media. All the hard chores like maintenance will be taken care of by a pseudo surrogate parent.

They're bitching about cameras because it takes away their visibility argument. If you had a sensor that warns you when there's a child in front of the car it basically make this image fucking useless because it becomes a non issue.

The truth is they hate it because it takes away their argument by solving the problem. They don't want the problem to be solved because it takes away ammo from them to complain about trucks. Similar to if there was a policy implemented that somehow stops all mass shootings they would hate it because it takes away their biggest reasons to grab guns.

"A quick google search suggests they need to be manually activated".
Ok then so what you're saying is all we have to do is make a PSA to turn it on and then it solves your fucking problem. All they do is make stupid reaches. They never come up with solutions all the they can do is come up with dumb hypothetical problems to bitch about.

I sort of get it. When you're young and broke it's hard to not have sour grapes syndrome and not be jealous of things you think you'll never own. Once you start actually applying yourself while working a job that isn't walking dogs you start to get a lot more optimistic about your financial situation and can afford something more expensive than a walmart bicycle.
This but it your Canadian good luck ever being able to afford a house. You need two good incomes to even be considered, and if you decide to have kids that is one of your incomes gone in flash paying for daycare since you both need to work)

I hate my country so much

I'm sure someone made this image before, but I thought I'd just make my own for fun.

Why would children be sitting down cross legged on a railroad track? I don't know, why would they be sitting cross legged in the middle of a road?

Hang on maybe we can fix this:

Wait we can keep going

Maybe we can just add a front camera and call it a day.

I can't find the example right now, but I'm sure they've already jerked off China's high speed rail.
From just last week:

China's high speed bullet train runs so smoothly without any vibration that if you keep a coin...png

Defending communism because at least they made the trains run on time built high speed rail.

China's housing bubble is a good thing:

If Jason doesn't want to hear about Americans about transportation shortfalls of bikes, I'm certain the average Dutchman doesn't want to hear some wealthy Ex-pat who is misrepresenting the realities of a nation who is both incredibly tiny, has severe housing shortages, and not having an exactly rock solid economy right now.
Jason doesn't want to get into a fight with an autist that will start whipping out FACTS and STATISTICS to prove that travel by car is, indeed, very safe, and I'm sure Randall would do that because autists simply CANNOT let something wrong go.
As far as the China stuff goes, the HSR lines don't cover the whole country. Once you get off the fancy new burret train, you have to get on another one that resembles something out of 1930's America
This video was shot in 2008. The steam engines are gone now, but does anyone think this area is all gleaming glass and steel edifices by now? There's a lot of this in China too. Outside of the big cities that they make an effort to show off is a huge swath of Appalachia-tier deprivation, filth and ramshackle-ness.

XKCD comic says bicycles are less convenient and more dangerous than cars. (Cue Reddit implosion.)

It's not even much of a slight, either. What, that bicycles are just slightly worse than cars in the "convenient vs. dangerous" scale?

Are they just mad that he didn't flagellate cars like what they're used in their infographics?

I believe it. There used to be warehouses in Houston that serviced small customers (basically trucks in front, trains in the back) and now all those tracks are gone or otherwise out of service.

Why would children be sitting down cross legged on a railroad track?
Are they Pajeet children because the Pajeet's natural predator is the Train?
Defending communism because at least they made the trains run on time built high speed rail.
If only they were based enough to defend Fascism because Mussolini made the trains run on time.

Do you think this has to do with a containerization of cargo?

Do you think this has to do with a containerization of cargo?
Partially and partially just how well trucks work for this kind of thing.

You’d think stop train, drop off railcar would be a simple, cheap maneuver but unless you’re unloading multiple cars a day, it’s just not worth it. Have it unloaded at the rail yard and trucked in.

Why would children be sitting down cross legged on a railroad track? I don't know, why would they be sitting cross legged in the middle of a road?
for what it's worth, when the London and Greenwich Railway was opened (1836), people would often wait for the train on the track itself, and at least one person was killed because of this
in the modern era, only the most exceptionally sheltered and/or retarded people would do this, meaning it's more likely to become a regular occurrence in future
