Not even really casting shade on Liefeld, who even developed a sense of humor about the mockery. His flaws aside, his work was generally very popular. It had positive traits to the point that if you didn't look at it, because it was comic book art, and who gets all hoity-toity about that, and for much of his career the flaws were ignored.

It was fairly late that people were like "what the FUCK is this arm?" and stuff like that.
