So I’ve been facing some serious discrimination at my work. I’ve brought up these concerns and they were supposed to have been resolved. However, during my last performance evaluation, I got extremely bad marks out of nowhere. My supervisor literally told me that I had improved a lot, but that with his new metrics (he never explicitly stated what those are) I was unsuitable for my job. He didn’t fire me yet though. He went on a long rant about various issues he has with me. He said my voice sounded weird and that some of my clients don’t like me. At that point, I suspected discrimination.
I talked with a friend who is a lawyer (but not officially giving me legal advice) and decided to go on emergency leave (claiming mental health issues). He told me to write a brief email saying that I will be on leave and to leave it at that. No drama, no emotions, etc. He told me that it would be difficult to prove discrimination since a lot of the feedback wasn’t written, but that it could possibly go somewhere.
This morning, my supervisor replied to my email with a page long transphobic rant. My lawyer told me that I definitely have a case now, but since we’re friends, he is helping me look for another lawyer (he dislikes business with friends).
