I think of myself as someone rather grounded and not really a conspiracy believer, but even I think a strong argument could be made here that someone somewhere has some interest in trooning out as many lost nerds/soon to be young nerds to ruin FOSS in a way where it implodes on itself

Same here. I'm generally less in the conspiracy camp and more in the "shit's just sorta fucked" camp, but after running into the same "I'm going through a journey" transition posts in multiple modding/emulation communities it's hard to not notice a trend.

I've been joking with my wife for a while now that autism is the domain of men, so when you see interesting coding projects done by "women" they always turn out to be a smelly troon, as there are literally no real women autistic enough to be modding niche games from the late 90's.

I've had the same experiences IRL from the few that I've interacted with and they've always been pretty chill, but I don't run in their circles so Idk. In the extended universe material (the tabletop game), it is full of they/thems and they retconned spiritbending to be created by a trans-identified male. It's kinda ironic because whoever created him made him absolutely love how women were oppressed in the Northern Water Tribe and could only learn healing. It hecking validated him to heal. They also didn't bother giving him a female name (Mattiuq) as only male names end in 'Q' in the Water Tribe. No one really plays the tabletop game nor do most fans know about the genderspecial content in it, but I guarantee it is going to leak into the animated content coming out in the next few years.

Fuck, I didn't even know, but honestly with the state of things I should have assumed. I find it funny though how even in their fantasies they can't escape the reality that regular straight people are the ones with the cool back stories that everyone knows and loves, and it's only in the niche corners do you start to see the weird they/them shit that nobody gives a fuck about.

The LDS church doesn't take nearly hard enough stance against transgenderism (especially since undergoing sex changes was originally something they would instantaneously excommunicate you over, now all they do is withhold a temple recommend and/or priesthood offices). They aren't fully pozzed, but they're certainly dancing on the edge by not just taking a hard and fast stance against it, instead of trying to be "kind" to spiteful mutants who will hate them with every fibre of their being no matter what.

The way to look at it, the troons decide the LDS church doesn't go far enough to support them, and they decide to form a splinter sect that openly supports troondom and it dies due to apathy, just like the other liberal mormon splinter groups that no one gives a fuck about.

While I can't give two shits about the NRA specifically, there are plenty of troon gun clubs. Troons are also committing mass shootings at increasing rates, further ruining the very concept of gun clubs.

generally, any hobby that requires a lot of free time and zero monetary compensation to be a part of like video game reverse engineering (including modding or making emulators) or other open source projects tends to attract SJW janny activists a lot, and free speech of any kind dies around it. guess it falls under this thread because a lot of them are those. but that's probably the broadest and most all encompassing way i could put it. whats funny is this ramps up even harder if its a role that requires less effort like community managers, journalism or just outright forum modding.

In the 60s, cross-dressing was a standard part of gay culture, so Lola was almost certainly intended to be a gay man. That’s just how it was back then. Even today, you see a few elderly cross-dressers in Soho. I find it ironic that a band that dealt with homoeroticism fairly openly (albeit with a certain amount of innuendo) should be pilloried by the LGBT community.
