Mega Rad Gun Thread

Seeing in real time why guntubers are popular. Everyone's got an opinion and everyone wants to know what the best build is for xyz use for their weapons, and everyone has an opinion on what the best build is for xyz use for their weapons.
"Can it take a deer?"

"Oh yeah, it can. That thing'll smoke a deer straight out."

"...........and if a deer is wearing level 4 plates and shouting "Death to Israel, Trans Rights Are Human Rights?"

"Uh......I guess."

"Do you accept gold Chris coins as payment?"

@Null Just practice shooting for the groin or thighs if you're worried about armor. There is groin armor but out of all the boomer preppers and guns nuts I've ever met none of them have had any. I would also imagine if someone was hit in the groin even wearing armor they would be writhing on the ground in pain directly after the bullet impacts.

Adding to this, trannies wouldn't have groin plates to begin with because it would interfere with their dilation schedule.

Any groin armor that is available is soft armor, meaning IIIA max, meaning that it will not stop any rifle round.

Does anyone have enough experience with 5.56 vs 6.5 Creedmore on the AR Platform to suggest one over the other? The US is switching to 6.5 because 5.56 is supposedly no longer sufficient to penetrate modern body armor.
The change to the 6.8 cartridge, which according to sig is literally just a beefy version of .308, was OKed by a bunch of boomer generals that fell for the battle rifle meme. The army tried something similar before with the M14 and changed to 5.56 because who ever had the most ammo on them wins firefights. This worked so well for firefights in Vietnam that even Russia changed to a similar cartridge (5.45x39).
If you are worried about trannies decked out in LARP gear shooting you, you are better off with a mid-tier AR + something that can carry 9-12 mags. Don’t waste your money on a pricey rifle that could be spent on ammo, training, and force multipliers. A plate carrier with a level4(bit overkill), 9-12 mags, a mounted light, and a decent optic are all better investments. I’d look into the old videos Garandthumb did on his own home defense set up, and also HOP’s videos on optics/suppressors/NVG/thermal. 5.56 ARs have a shitload of support, and you can carry more ammo compared to .308.

I would also consider a concealed carry option for the times you will be leaving the home without the ability to kit up.

T. AK74 enjoyer too poor for optics
I was under the impression that Florida was extremely expensive. I guess North Florida/Alabama are cheaper though.

There are options for basically armored closets that are about the price of a Gucci Combat setup. Depends on your eventual area of residence though.
These are also memes since 90% of the time they are only 3A rated (rifles go straight through). A lot of architectural products marketed as armored or bullet resistant aren’t rated to stop rifles. You are better off with a precast concrete panic room.

Wasn't their a drill call the the zipper or something?
The first one or two shots were aimed at the groin then you ripped off two or three more while moving up the target towards COM or the head.

Okay, so no standard NATO cartridge will pierce L4 plates. Is that the consensus?
Adding to what others have said, plates will prevent the projectile penetrating but it will not absorb all the force. Most of that energy transfers, and that means trauma and broken bones.
If they try to be smart and wear steel plates, the energy transfer will be debilitating and spall(fragments) goes up into their head. If it's ceramic, multiple rounds will cause extreme discomfort and compromise its integrity. Soft armor of any kind is a poor cushion for energy and repeated non-penetrative hits will cause severe internal bleeding.

Of course, soft armor is only good against pistol rounds anyway and even basic M193 55gr FMJ will go right through any and all soft armor at normal ranges.

So Null, have you ever been to the gun range?
Yes. I have a pistol in trust I will reclaim (I don't want to say what it is for opsec), but I've fired a few guns and have probably spent about 20~30 hours at a range. I lean towards Ruger because I had excellent experience with a Ruger 5.56 with a red dot sight and had a great grouping at 15yd with no prior experience shooting it. It was basically a joy. I did get access to a Ruger 5.7 recently and that was also great. The worst gun I've handled was a P90. I like P90 in Counter Strike and tried it but loading the magazine is one of the worst things I've ever tried to do and did not once successfully fire it without jamming.

I've never hunted before but my grandfather was a Vietnam veteran and I always had access to guns growing up so I'm comfortable around them.

I've talked about this before but I do have small hands. I believe my grip on most handguns is inadequate for them. I do not fire a handgun well.

You're in luck, subcompacts are very popular these days. Every gun store will have a selection of them so you can find something that fits you well and most are able to receive an optic to improve your precision.

If I buy another handgun I want 5.7, and I don't think I can be talked out of it. I like them. I think FN makes a subcompact now.

Probably a good thing that you didn't enjoy it. 5.7 is basically overpriced .22 Magnum.

For handguns definitely find a range that lets you rent so you can try before you buy. G43X, G26, M&P compact, Sig P365 are all great handguns with smaller grips.

Sounds like you've found your rifle when you get back then. Ruger's offering in the AR market is the AR-556. Try and get the flat-top version so you have a bit more flexibility with your sight mounting.

I should make note that no firearm manufacturer is free of defects or potential problems, and that if you feel like something isn't right with your rifle don't be afraid to ask, because sometimes even companies with decent track records drop the ball.

I also have smaller hands and found the two 5.7 handguns I held to be a little narrow in grip, This wasn't an issue with shooting or general handling, but my firing hand could not comfortably thumb the magazine release without breaking grip. I've learned to use my support hand to manipulate the magazine release, it works fine. I would recommend you get at least one handgun in 9x19mm, the ammunition is cheap and for self defense it is very capable. The CZ75B fit my hands well and shoots like a dream, they're relatively inexpensive but they are full sized handguns so concealed carry can be difficult. The recommendation for the Sig P365XL is solid, great guns that are small enough to conceal but large enough to be easy to shoot.

I understand, I bought a 10mm with the same want.

They don't, unfortunately, but the FiveSeven isn't a huge gun. It might be your best bet even if it's ~$1,500.
Runners up are --
Ruger 5.7, which was the second pistol to be chambered in 5.7 and is probably okay. Haven't heard much about it and it's from a brand you know.

Smith & Wesson M&P 5.7, very cheap option from the very reliable M&P line. Apparently good.
MP 57.png

Rock 5.7, offering from PSA which is dirt cheap and is constantly on sale. Can only be ordered online and shipped to a local FFL though which can be annoying on your first go.

Or my personal favorite, the Kel-Tec P50 because why the fuck not.

I have owned several Rugers throughout my life and every single one has been trouble-free. My daily carry is a Ruger.

That is because you are not a real tough guy, child. Only real tough guys can handle a gun like that.

Fatrick keeping the 16" barrel in his PS90 will always be the gayest thing about him.
