DOOM

Holy fuck.

Nice, a trailer where I have something resembling confidence in the final product. I trust ID to deliver on gameplay, I just hope they tone down the "arcadey" stuff: I've voiced my issues with lore in Eternal, but the one niggle I will. not. budge. on. is the presence of things like extra lives, the floating question marks for collectables, and the Mario-ass looking platforming for the sake of platforming. If that's all toned down I can ignore whatever loreslop Hugo feeds me and just enjoy the gameplay.
At first I thought it was Medieval doom and nearly lost my shit, but this is still sick looking. While I'm still not a fan of the open sleeves on the armor exposing his skin, that's probably my favorite version of that armor so far, though I prefer 2016's.
I'm disappointed the Doomguy Figma was based on the Eternal armor and not the 2016 Praetor Suit. The open sleeves miff me too.

I don't know what to make from the trailer but if id wanted to make a "dark ages" Doom then they should just take Quake's gloomy atmosphere and don't put a lot of futuristic tech into the game itself. This feels like an alternate world of Doom instead.

I don't know the future but I think it is certain they'll tweak the rock-paper-scissors formula from Eternal. Hugo Martin seemed particularly proud of boxing players to use specific weapons against specific enemies over and over. My question is will they continue to hamper multiplayer just for the excuse of pushing their hero-shooter alternative quake champions.

I hate prequels, and Mick Gordon's out too. Especially considering the direction the industry's headed in, I'm not going to get my hopes up. I'm afraid Doom may be entering the "squeeze every drop from product" stage of AAA franchises. And that's not to mention that Sweet Baby Inc could get their claws on this at some point.

Holy fuck.

Some shit is definitely brewing with Quake. First QC had a character whose lore stated that Makron mas aware of the Old Ones (Shub-Niggurath being one of them yeah I was the pussy juice sipping faggot who read all the character info). Then Eternal had slipgates (another name for teleport that hasn't been used since Q1). Then, the Q2 remaster had Shamblers in it, and they were somehow connected to an unknown entity responsible for the creation of the Strogg. I ain't holding my breath, but something is in the works. I just hope it's a regular FPS, not a football field-sized bouncy castle full of kids with nerf guns and one school shooter.

We'll just have to wait and see regarding Quake's future.

So it's looks like a slower Doom Eternal with a parry. This will probably be fun. I see that they're still sticking with the retarded lore they've introduced to the games. Oh well, at least the color pallet was tone down.
I can handle unneeded story. As long as they don't waste development resources shoehorning in multiplayer that nobody asked for I'm a happy guy. Go all in on singleplayer, that's what we're all here for.

I liked D'16 multiplayer tho...

As much as I'd hate to disappoint the NuDoom multiplayer community - all 5 of them - I'm not okay with them treating multiplayer as a priority when we have yet to receive official mod support. 2016 at least had snapmap, providing an avenue for user content, even if it was unusable for the single player which constituted the overwhelming majority of the game's draw. Eternal didn't even have that. I want more singleplayer content and there is no better way to accomplish that than crowdsourcing it.
