One Piece - I'm Gonna Be the Pirate King!

Imu being an autistic incel/simp would bring all of this together.
Needs an Argument between Joyboy and Imu about which pole is colder too.

.....actually....JESUS FUCK

Imu was the Buggy of the Crew and his start of Darkness was an argument over something stupid with Joyboy.

Vegapunk going ‘it was all a battle of ideals and I can’t tell you who was wrong’ coupled with the ‘i can’t tell you their reasons’ and Roger’s crew laughing..,

I’m almost convinced it was the same goal with different solutions.

It would fit the whole Blackbeard/Luffy paralells as well.
I don't see that parallel as much though. I mean, yes, both value freedom and dreams, but Blackbeard is all about the freedom to crush all under his power, basically Might makes Right to it's expected ending point. Luffy is more of a free to go anywhere and have adventures, it's all about being naive and happy to go wherever and befriend whoemever. Though there is still a part of might makes right with Luffy, he does hate cowards that just keel over and take it, but it's a lot more benign than Blackbeard.

The mirror of Blackbeard and Luffy seems better reflected between Rocks and Roger. Both pirates, one from the ruthless side and the other from the freedom lovers side.

With Imu and Joyboy it really does seem a Control vs Freedom sort of deal, better mirrored by the navy and pirates. It doesn't go into the goods or bads of Control or Freedom, just on what the desired approach is. Akainu seems like more of an opposite to Luffy in that sense to me.

Giving S-Snake her own Sailor Moon attack sequence is the most bizarre adaptation choice I've seen in this show.

Next week is another clip show. Really wish they'd just do a filler arc or two, because with Oda's current release schedule, half the episodes are going to end up being clip shows before long.

It kind of makes sense when you realize that A) adult Hancock's Japanese VA also voiced Sailor Moon and B) Both One Piece and Sailor Moon are animated by Toei.

It's mind-blowing how much One Piece has exploded into mainstream for the past few years ever since Wano hit its climax. I think that shows its resilience in that it managed to bounce back into good graces after 4KIDS almost killed it here, but also can't deny the hype over the final saga has been out of this world.

Though it could also be due to Toei/Netflix having enough "fuck you" money to basically pay for such things because why else did Las Vegas decide to put it on display on the Sphere?

Honestly, I gotta think it’s more Netflix and Toei pushing things, considering the big thing of 2024 is 25 years of the One Piece anime going strong. And I guess you could argue the Gear 5 is this generation’s Goku going Super Saiyan for the first time.

I think part of it is that with Luffy taking down a Yonko it is now clear that the series is moving towards the end..as such people are starting to be willing to get into the series properly.

But if the spoilers are anything to go by, we still have mystery box cockteases. And then I have to realize that we, the people who post ITT, are not the target audience Oda is looking to entertain. Not in the slightest.

Yeah but we are heading towards the end, I think there were lots of people who like the series, wanted to try the series out ect and have been waiting until the End begins..and it has.
