ODD is a legitimate diagnosis, but you're right that it gets tossed around as a buzzword in the same way as autism or BPD or schizo. Someone can be oppositional and defiant towards people who antagonize them without actually having ODD, but people will still slap them with that label because it's concise and catchy. Most people aren't psychiatrists, so you can't really judge the validity of a disorder by the way most people use the label.

ODD can be a legitimate diagnosis, but even when made by psychiatrists we can have many misdiagnosis.

Unfortunately physicians can't just perceive the inner workings of the human psyche, and much of the information that we get are from the parents, schools, church, etc (external ones). Any psychiatrist who works with children have an extra challenge that is the children usually behaves very differently in a healthcare setting than the usual home behavior. So, much of the information we get are from parents, and other professionals that take care of the children.

I'm saying that because it's easier for the family and the school to accept that the child isn't progressing very well because of a psychiatric diagnosis (ODD, ADHD, autism, etc) than because of their own failure to properly educate the child (even more when you have a promise of a "pill" to resolve all problems). And when these people are the only source of information you get for your diagnosis, you have a higher chance for a misdiagnosis.

Adding to this. Many of the diagnostic criteria states that it can only be made when those symptoms interferes with their day-to-day life. So we get a diagnosis that is properly influenced by external influences, which is to say that the same child in another cultural environment may not have the same diagnosis. And this is a big fuck up (in my opinion) for many psychiatric diagnosis.

I'm not here to say that these pathological conditions that we arbitrarily decide the criteria doesn't exist in some form. But the tools that we have at our disposal are very inaccurate ones. And the consequences of a misdiagnosis can be quite severe, so maybe this is why many psychiatrist are just crazy.

I sperged all this, but Nick obviously just uses this “ODD” as a barrier to "justify" his bad behavior, it's just another form to not accept responsibility for thy own actions.

The Christian stuff from Nick adds to my belief that he learns enough to manipulate people. The issue is that he is no where near as smart as he believes. His issues with Catholics and Lutherans is most likely their was a priest or deacon who took a theology class that probably told him he was wrong in the nicest way possible and he seethed about that.

Nick’s family background is strongly Catholic on both parents sides. His Polish Veteran Grandfather and Grandmother were very involved with the Knights of Columbus and helped around. The Owen’s had their own charity. Nick’s parents are involved in a charity for HIV+ kids (further proof that Nick probably has AIDS). Nick’s idea of charity from a recent stream prior to the arrest was just giving money and not even his money. It involved no work. I’m not saying you need to bust your ass for the disabled, elderly, or retarded, but charity is something involved.

Nick seemed to stroll up to a charity to represent his parents. His donations were his parents money.

It is one of the most irritating hypocrisies to me, personally. It shows me that he never took anything seriously and is an analogue for his laughable theories on the law and relationships.

Nick had every opportunity to get it right, but he fucked it up.

Where I am, you lose your license for a set amount of time for stuff like that in the amount that Rackets does. For a permanent license revoke, it would have to be really bad, and even then you'd probably lose your license permanently, but with the ability to request driving privileges again after 10 years. For that serious, you're talking 3+ DUIs.

I will say though that if you don't have your proof of insurance card in your car or on your phone, the police here will just look it up on their side if you have a good attitude. Around here, if you're nice and polite, you'll have a way easier time, and are much more likely to get a warning instead of a citation. I guess Nick is just a complete asshole to any authority figure, so perhaps that's why they didn't feel like looking it up themselves, and just said fuck you.

But I don't know. I'm a boy scout that has only had one speeding ticket, and one parking ticket my whole life.
