There are lots of places in Minnesota that would have towed the car for lack of DL, lack of insurance, lack of tags and speeding. Nick got really soft treatment in that incident. The only thing I can think of is maybe there was a second person in the car who could drive it home.

We already learned a few days ago that Nick was stopped speeding with no license, no tags for his Lincoln Navigator, and no proof of insurance going into Willmar on March 23, 2024.

Turns out he was later stopped on March 29 for expired tags for his Navigator and no proof of insurance!

Here's the radio chatter from his traffic stop. Pretty mundane, but even the cops can't pronounce "Rekieta".

Suspiciously, the March 23 traffic stop is right during a 19-minute hole in the radio archives, which are usually complete. I wonder if something more spicy happened then.

There's another small bit of chatter between the officer and traffic dispatch indicating that the traffic stop was over by 10:32.

Here's the citation. He was stopped after the officer noticed him driving with expired tags. Rekieta (correctly) said he had just received a citation for that offense a few days prior but did not have any proof of it and it did not show in the system. He did not have any proof of insurance on him for his Lincoln, but said he could provide a card for a different vehicle (presumably the Lincoln) so he was cited for that too.

If you toss that VIN into one of those online lookup services, it happily confirms that he did indeed pay in excess of a hundred thousand dollars for the family vehicle.

According to Andrew, who WAS ON YOUR SIDE early on, you DO in fact read this thread, and it agonizes you. A lot of people here figured that already (even though I started to have doubts later on) before the arrest, but to get some sort of confirmation is spectacular.

Knowing you come here and silently read all of this and just get more and more upset, it makes it all so much better.

Only thing I will say against those Instagram comments from other people is that trying to speak to this man in a rational manner is a complete waste of energy - just tell him to take his own life or something. It's way easier, and it will accomplish the same thing.
