people have different "bottoms" that can motivate them to abandon self-destructive behaviors. for addicts, it's just much lower than for normal people. a normal person can make a decision tree and figure out that the probabilities and expected outcomes of drinking vs. not drinking seldom favor drinking, especially if you drink with any consistency. (i recall bill burr had a similar epiphany.) it takes a certain amount of humility to see this, but sadly nick has none whatsoever. his most recent stream confirmed that. i don't see this moment happening for nick.

I'll try to take up on a attorney role and defend "losing weight due to sickness" argument.
I am personally lost 22 lb in a couple weeks when I had very bad flu. Although it was so bad that eating was insanely hard, I felt I was going to die lol. I guess if Nick snorts cocaine with whiskey and other shit he kind of feels he is sick when drugs wear off.

He acts like a dick, fights the "trolls", gets convicted, gets divorced, and signs away his parental rights. Then, after he gets out from under government control and family obligation, he can rebrand himself as a degenerate comedian, pop his collar, and move to LA and drink himself to death like any other Midwest loser with hoop dreams and a crippling alcohol addiction. This route includes many whores of myriad genders who will let him use the balldo on them.

Yeah... it was weird to me when Aaron was talking about Nick going off via text to him calling him fat and doughy. I can see him saying that and at the same time I'm like... wtf? Nick's doing a great job with the PR. He should double and triple down. He should fire up a stream and tell us his side of the story. Tearing into the warrant, the arrest complaint, the cops, local members of the community, the prosecutor, the new judge, the appeals court, the federal courts in Minnesota. I don't think he'll choose.
He'll try to tell himself that he can have the parts of both that he wants to have, without the rest of what comes with it. He can get healthy, AND continue to deny everything and argue with fans. He can minimize the legal repercussions from the charges, AND get to keep having fun with booze (and maybe even drugs) once he's free again.
I might be projecting my own experiences with a family member, but he just doesn't seem like he's hit a brick wall yet, so he hasn't been forced to learn and change a god damned thing.
He's still out on bail, he still has money and comfort, he's not worried about his kids because he knows (or thinks) that they're fine with his family members, and he still has plausible deniability with his audience in that we don't know for sure that the allegations are true.
There's nothing about his situation that's yet gotten so bad that it will make him give things up.
So he won't choose. He'll still think that he can have it all.
