AFAIK, there's been only one attempt to make an EJ thread on KF, and it was written by somebody who sounded like a Dick fanboy. It went over about as well as you might expect.
There are some long-time and well-respected users here who have raised perfectly valid criticisms of July, but a thread is something else altogether. Especially given the current climate of scum fuckery. The milk has all been flowing from the hardcore anti-EJ side. Riley's arrest is just the latest example of that.

Malin did a live stream with Shane and other guests. Malin said it’s gay to mess with people irl, that Riley shouldn’t have showed up to troll for the lol’s saying people could get hurt. I always thought EJ was kind of silly and that he kind of sounds like the Oswald Bates character from In Living Color when trying to sound smart in debates, but I don't really bring it up anymore so people won't go and think I'm one of EVS's guys and out to tear down Eric July. Besides, things like that barely seems worth mentioning in light of EVS's Lolcowing.

It’s a matter of contrast. I would argue that EVS side are bigger lolcows than Eric & co but they’re all still lolcows. IMO one of the problems with the alternative comics movement whether it’s the EVS camp, Eric, or some third party is that a lot of the comics aren’t as high quality for the amount they rag on the SJWs. One of the reasons I tuned out of the comic culture wars is because of how trashy a lot of the comics are. I want them to do well, I want them to sell comics better than DC or Marvel, but some of the story and art work is kinda embarrassing. Or they’re awful at delivering on time. I also find the infighting to be really lame because it reminds me of how a lot of SJW grifters will try to cancel each other because they think it’ll increase their patreon accounts.
IMO the problem with a lot of the conservative comic movement is that they either suck at art, writing, or delivering on time. I wish they’d do better because I want alternatives to thrive.
At times I feel like the American comic book industry is like a fallen empire. You have hold outs who are a fraction of what they once were (ie DC, Marvel, etc) barely clinging onto relevancy and a bunch of squabbling barbarians and survivors fighting over the rubble.

So, thus far, in terms of the arrests that have happened to EJ critics, EVS is claiming that the coke might belong to Nick's kids, and that the kids are at fault for not feeding and taking care of themselves. Meanwhile, Shane thinks EJ controls the cops, and he used some voodoo nigger magic (or whatever) to get Riley arrested.
Comicsgate was always nutty, but now it's just ludicrous.
This can't continue for much longer, can it?

Eric makes mistakes, I make mistakes, you do too. Nothing wrong with knowing them. The line is the puppet shows, pissing on graves, and insisting the guy is dubious or evil based on his Youtube career.
From the inside looking out, what happened here is that a lot of guys that dreamed of making comics for Marvel or DC didn't get the opportunity. There's a lot of guys in early CG and some around now still that submitted their stuff to the mainstream and either got told "No" or were given no reply at all. The fantasy of making a comic was fascilitated by early CG's supportive energy as the narrative of Comicsgate Wave 1.5 was MAKE THE BOOKS INSTEAD OF BITCHING ABOUT THEM.
Along the way, a great deal of fellas that wanted to live out that childhood dream fell by the wayside. Some didn't fulfill, and others who did fulfill---didn't get the feedback they were expecting.
Over the years I spent around the CG Slums and CG Middle Class (Dungeoneers) the majority struggled keeping hope alive when the audience didn't respond positively (as AS positively as desired.) so they left.
What you see being promoted around are a "This is less expensive than a Ferrari and a divorce" midlife crises. Especially at the top.
Naturally this means the intent of the book isn't to entertain, but to qualify the creator as a "real comic guy".
This goes into a larger discussion about the psychology of comic book enjoyers vs creators. But the take away is: Most of what gets big money and promoted in Comicsgate is a wish fulfillment project. (Not all, but most.)
There are creators like myself that came here with the intent of translating the crazy real lives we've lead into tales to inspire the future. But I wouldn't define myself as a comic creator. That's too limiting. You'll find that attitude with anyone puttng out quality material. The focus is on storytelling visually or through text; not the clout of having made a comic before dying of old age.
