RPC 8.4 in general is usually used as a catch-all, because most criminal acts relevant to a lawyer's trustworthiness are directly addressed by other rules. Like section (a) says it's a violation of the rules to. . .umm. . .violate the rules. Okay. And they got Bill Clinton under (d): "(d) engage in conduct that is prejudicial to the administration of justice" for his technically-not-quite-perjury where he slithered around honestly answering a question by manipulating the court into defining "sexual relations" in a way he could deny it.

It's fairly unusual to see 8.4 by itself, even though any act that violates any RPC, or attempts to do so, also by definition also implicates at least the (a) section of 8.4.

Clinton's case was fairly unusual and most cases of that sort wouldn't have resluted in a suspension, but given the context, I think it was entirely appropriate under the circumstances, seeing as the purported aim of the rule is specifically directed at the integrity of the profession.

His thought processes are easy to understand from the perspective that he is a narc though. MANY narcs start to melt down in their 30s and on because the ability to get attention and indulge their desires decreases, or rather, people start to really hold them accountable for failing in their job and family duties.

Kayla being useless is a problem he could have managed with the amount of money he has - lots of rich men have wives that spend their days getting their nails done and sitting around the house. Nick spent that money on shitty art and has bragged 'I've made many $10k purchases'. If he wanted to not have the responsibility of dealing with his family, he could have limited his responsibilities to working his (easy) lucrative job and let nannies and maids deal with the house like every other rich man. Instead he blew the money on vanity purchases.
