He's completely forgetting that Tolkien spent just as much time on stories of war and battle, heroic poems like Beowulf. So no, a story focusing on Rohan and the exploits of its warriors is just as in Tolkien's wheelhouse as the elves and Maiar, or as Bob calls them "Gnosticized swoony angels.")
