This is absolutely ridiculous and total guilt by association. Commenters are saying that apparently this lawyer was fired by some of the victims’ families anyway, so I’m not sure why he’s being trusted as a source. If the daughter did anything, that is for law enforcement to investigate, and implying that she’s complicit in murders her dad has still not been found guilty of* solely based on her Tumblr activity is dangerous.

Also, the Son of Sam laws (basically, that killers aren’t allowed to profit from media about of their murders) don’t apply to their families AND have been found unconstitutional on First Amendment grounds. I’ll take my legal consulting fees now since obviously this “lawyer” doesn’t seem to be aware of this.

I had hoped we had learned different based on what happened with the Satanic Panic, where many innocent people were in prison for decades based on guilt by association and false evidence. I think most true crime fans feel the same - that someone needs to be judged based on the evidence against them, not based on rumor and hearsay.

*Not saying her dad isn’t guilty; he very likely is. But as of now, he has plead not guilty and so is not guilty according to the United States justice system.

I agree with what you're saying, and the yt commenter made some points about the age of the daughter w/r/t the victims; she was respectively not yet born, 6, 10, and 13 at the times of their demise. After re-watching the whole video, it does seem that the lawyer is trying to imply that the now adult daughter is attempting to enrich herself off of god-knows-what went on in her childhood, so the point you made about the SoS laws is probably the biggie, but the spectacle of printing and displaying tumblr art she merely followed online was the razzle-dazzle that got the audience poll ["Do you think this evidence ties Heuermann's daughter to his alleged murders?"] to believe, 55% to 45%, that the daughter was so tied. That's completely bananas, and the reporter/tv station phrasing their little poll that way is also heavily to blame. The one piece of art attributed to her was in a style that made it incredibly difficult for me to interpret, to the point that I doubt its description, and curiously not blown up on poster board, but rather held up at the lectern as part of a press packet.

The whole thing is like a reverse OJ/glove debacle, and as you pointed out, she isn't even on trial. What a shitshow.

For everyone else (male and female) who isn't crazy, a kind (moral) and good looking provider/protector is the ideal partner so in that way the meme references the truth. It's one of the keys - the lawyer mentioned several times how disgusting he found it that the family had given an interview. Apparently the police completely trashed the house when they were searching it, digging huge holes in the yard and breaking the pipework looking for evidence in the drains, so it's the family's responsibility to fix that. Whatever money they had is probably going to Dad's defense attorneys and to make up for his lost income. I assume Peacock offered the family a pretty penny for an interview, so I can't blame them for taking advantage of it, particularly when it's not illegal in the first place. I have family members who have had trouble with the law, and honestly, even though you may be the one who didn't do anything, that shit hurts you, too. You might have to come up with money to support your relative in their court case, work your ass off to take care of other family members in the household, send money to your relative's commissary, or take time off work and travel to visit them.

The Satanic Panic case I was thinking of was actually the McMartin preschool case, amongst others. No conclusive evidence of Satanic ritual abuse (and its new form, adrenochrome trafficking) has ever been found. Meanwhile, innocent people have been thrown in prison over it, such as the McMartin family members, some of whom served more than ten years in prison for something that literally could not have happened in the way the children described it. People complain about how criminals have tons of rights, but that is absolutely for a reason; people have been thrown in prison and had their lives and careers ruined over unsubstantiated allegations.

A large part of Israel's population growth (although not all tbf) is due to its Haredi population which is very much not a group with a great deal of "matriarchal reverence," it has all the traits of fundamentalist Abrahamic religion that people decry in Islam and Christianity. Haredi women are married off at 18 and have an average of like 6 kids per family. They don't assimilate to the secular population, do not usually have a rigorous secular education, and don't serve in the IDF. The Israeli government has largely turned a blind eye to this but there are some social movements working for change, which they need because otherwise there will have a crisis on their hands in the coming decades.

I like Anna but like 5% of the time she'll just have a nuclear bomb tier bad take. IIRC she's some brand of Arab Christian who grew up in Canada so her perspective on the issue is probably kind of limited.

What I quite like is that some of the parental leave must be assigned to the father. They get something like a year total, and neither parent can use more than something like 9 months of it. That way employers aren’t as disincentivised to hire women (because she might get pregnant and disappear for a year), and fathers get a chance to bond with the child as well (which I think is really important).

I’ve noticed the comments sections on Instagram in particular have gotten very toxic, particularly in the last six months. Any remotely feminist video or post is attracting total moids with no followers and sketchy profile pictures. I’ve seen it a little on Facebook and Reddit, too, but I honestly don’t use those that often. Female influencers I follow have also posted about getting extremely disrespectful DMs, and I’ve even seen moids and handmaidens being absolutely horrible on posts showing a heavily pregnant mom and a teenage girl with Down’s Syndrome. Meanwhile, today is Father’s Day, and I’ve seen moids online whining about how they’re not receiving as much attention as moms do on Mother’s Day. There was yet another article this week in a major publication about the “male loneliness epidemic” and I’m just like…they deserve to be lonely. If you’re lonely, that’s on you, not me.
