I wonder if it's a strain on them to be taking care of the kids right now. That's a lot of mouths to feed. I assume they may need some new clothes? I don't recall hearing about whether they got to take any belongings from the Rekieta house, or if that's typical in situations where kids are placed in temporary (or not so temporary, maybe) guardianship. I'm even more curious if Nick's family has stepped in to help.You'd be correct. There is no real evidence of either the Woltjer's or Sletta's being wealthy. They do seem to be genuinely good people, however. Which just adds to the bizarre behavior of Kayla.
Perhaps they have nice 401ks or pensions, like a lot of boomers of their age, but it's nothing remotely close to Rekieta wealth. By all appearances they look to be fairly middle class.
