Ok, intervention time is getting interesting. I know addiction very well. I also know what that road looks like for me. I REALLY LIKE provigil, I'd prefer to keep it that way.

This is not to say that modafinil doesn't have legitimate medical uses or even that it has less abuse potential than other comparable drugs. For some reason, discussion on this topic tends to devolve into people pointing that out when ACCORDING TO REKIETA HIMSELF, the way he took modafinil had no relation to what any doctor would recommend.

For instance, around the same time as these Locals comments Nick did a stream where he admitted taking or planning to take modafinil on nights where he's drinking, right before going to bed, in the hopes that its effects will kick in after a couple hours and he will wake up after a very short sleep.

Or you can look at a much more recent clip where Nick denies snorting Provigil in a way that makes it seem like he looked into the possibility before. But even then, there are subtle clues in his language, like referring to taking his prescription as "doing Provigil" instead of "taking Provigil" like a normal non drug addict would say.

I’ve been trying to find it, but in one stream about 1.5 to 2 years ago (pre-lolcow status), he gave the audience advice on obtaining Modafinil/Provigil from India via Indian cab drivers. At the time, he explained that he did it this way because getting a doctor’s prescription would be a hassle that would involve driving and paperwork.

Rekieta has gone into detail about how he was diagnosed with narcolepsy. I think it was when he was working for Wells Fargo, but in any event it must have been before he went to law school, much less started streaming. From what I gather he was initially prescribed something different, but he had definitely moved to Provigil by 1.5 years ago.

Also... 1.5 to 2 years ago, Rekieta was the biggest lolcow on YouTube. He had converted his mega successful law streams to getting into "relationship content" which meant getting drunk and eagerly reciting TMI sex stories about him and his wife and creeping on his female guests such as Faran or Megan Fox.

Maybe he lied about modafinil acting like cocaine, and exaggerated his statement to make himself look cool. Modafinil can be obtained in legal way, it's cheaper and it's gotta be far less risky to take health-wise, since illegal drugs can be cut with some other bullshit, so if it really worked the same way for him (how did Nick know about how cocaine affects him back in 2022 btw lol), it would be really silly to switch to illegal drugs.

Or maybe it did genuinely affect him in a very intense way, but he continued to take large quantities or abuse it in some other way, and he built up tolerance of some sort, and that's when he switched to cocaine.
